different kettle of fish. Club coaching you have 10 months with your squad. You play 24 rounds plus finals where you can build on one performance. You can sign players, release them, and ultimately make your own calls on who is in your side and who isn't. Origin coaching you have 10 days to motivate a side you inherit from the selectors (who in Bellamy's case were clueless). Meninga is one of the great origin coaches and did a pretty poor job at the helm for Canberra.

just on origin, ricky stuart was a fulltime coach for the blues and bellyache wasnt. also qld has one of the best origin teams ever. slater, lockyer, thurston, cam smith. losing against a team like that doesnt make bellyache a bad coach and it definitely doesnt make 'smell my finga' a champion coach

well im not saying meninga is a terrible coach but i think a mediocre coach could win with the players qld have. meninga would bring the passion but his play makers would bring the brains (slater, lockyer, thurston, smith)

NSW were red hot favourites for the 2006 series. Meninga did a great job motivating his troops to get the upset. In 2007, Queensland narrowly won games 1 and 2 (NSW had a huge lead in game 1 from memory), then got beaten pretty easily in game 3\. It wasn't until 2008 that Queensland had a much better side than NSW. He's done an amazing job with the side however.

Watching him during the game tonight, geez he's an angry, scary dude! No wonder the Storm play so well **every** week, they wouldn't be game not to! I reckon he'd just about kill them if they didn't win - looks like a real control freak.

Take the best 3 players out of any side they wouldn't make the 8\. Without Marshall, Farah and Ellis we'd probably be in the bottom 4.

And this year no lote,Lawrence and several others….. what injury do smith cronk and slater have.Not much in the last 4 years.

When did we have Marshall, Farah and Hodgson out for a WHOLE season, Marshall missed a lot of games over the years, Farah has not had many long term injuries in the past 5 seasons (2006 he had a few, but that was it). Hodgson hasn't been at the club for 3 seasons.

Bellamy did not lose a game thoughout the entire origin period, in fact the last time the Storm lost a game was the weekend before the first origin teams were picked (the same weekend we lost to Souths). Bellamy does a fantastic job taking no name players, and fitting them into his style, hence why the Storm have been so successful.

Here we go the twisting…**where did i say the whole season.**Im saying if he had his key players out they wouldnt make the 8 which then you wouldnt be rating him.....hes had some luck with key players having no injuries at all....it helps.Dont get me wrong he does do a good job down there.

I dare say if Bellamy coached the Wests Tigers it would be a disaster. This is just an opinion form the outside, but his hardline approach (from what ive been told) would not work with certain personalities in the Wests Tigers team. But with guys like Smith, Cronk and Slater leading the way it works.

Coaching is all relative, some work well with a certain group of players, some dont.

Bellamy is yet to win a premiership and coulnt win a State of Origin series on 3 straight attempts.

At the moment i believe he is being overrated….but thats not to say these rating wont be warranted one day...just not yet.

Has a fabulous ability to identify and cultivate naturally talented footballers. One could only wonder how far they would have gone last year if there wasn't such a restrictive salary cap (or a salary cap at all…)

I will manage just fine of the Sharks somehow beat the Cowboys and Saints beat Warriors
Then I will be licking my lips with anticipation
And I think the Tigers will smell blood in the water
