The Brisbane Broncos have confirmed that Ben Ikin has left his role as the club's head of football operations after a stint lasting almost two years.
Ikin assumed the role in mid-2021, and admitted he'd "learned a lot" in his time with the Broncos, the club where he ended his playing career in 2004. He is
set to take up a role within Queensland Rugby League.
"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Broncos and certainly learned a lot," he said in a club statement.
"I leave here knowing the football program is in better shape than when I arrived.
"There are a lot of good people at the Broncos doing great work, and I know that ultimate success for the club is getting much closer."
Ikin's first season ended with the Broncos in 14th spot and the club has risen towards the top of the table as he exits, and club CEO Dave Donaghy paid tribute to the outgoing football boss.
"Ben has made a valuable contribution to our club since he arrived in mid-2021," he said.
"The football program and playing roster needed an overhaul, and Ben very diligently worked with other key staff to knock both into shape, and our results this year reflect those efforts.
"We thank Ben for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future."
