Too many dribblers on this forum bagging Benji saying he's not worth the money, taking the club for a ride :blah . This man is a great asset to the club both on and off the field. Lets face it, how marketable would we be without him? Not very. He's been behind one of the smallest forward packs for some years, and still has been able to produce some great work throughout the years, despite what you may say. I for one hope this man stays a one club man, it's hard to find one of them these days, sign this man please Mr Mayer. :sign:

and u go with him

no denying Benji is a good player.
the most frustrating aspect of it all is, sometimes the simple things do not get done correctly and have a major impact on the games. :unamused: :brick:
eg. finding touch from a penalty kick.
take these simple school; boys footy errors out of his game, which do repeatedly happen, and then there will be a change of people's attitude towards him.

Yes, take the schoolboy errors out of his game, and he's a top class player, but how long have we been saying this? We've been waiting for him to cut out the stupid decisions and step up to the top level for years now, but there comes a time when we have to realise it's never going to happen and move him on.

If he takes the schoolboy errors out of his game he could be very very good.

Problem is he has had them all his career and has never gotten them out of his game.

That is the entirety of the problem with Benji. Or more pointedly that is the problem with investing big money in Benji

he's way too far under the microscope these days, no matter what happens people will have a negative view of him IMO

having said that there were a couple of glaring errors tonight

He brings it upon himself with what he commands in $$$ and what he says in the media. He is an average player that can outplay himself in both aspects good and bad :deadhorse:

I just don't know where I stand on what to do with Benji. He can have some shockers that's for sure and his form this season and much of last season has been below par. However, I believe he has improved heaps over the past few weeks and he is still the kind of player that makes me sit up expectantly whenever he gets the ball in his hands.

I thought he looked dangerous many times tonight, ran the ball well and was heavily involved in most of our tries - BUT - then there's the mistakes and unfortunately they are usually costly ones. I can handle the odd pass out over the sideline - I've seen lots of good ball players do that one, but not kicking the ball out on a penalty kick? I'm sorry, but I find that one unforgivable and it is something that Benji has done more often than I care to remember.

When Benji failed to find touch tonight, it was the end of the game for us, pure and simple. It's these silly mistakes, which cost us so much, that make me want to see the back of him asap! Yet, deep down I think I would be hugely disappointed if, in fact, he does leave because I believe he still has lots to offer WT and I reckon we will see it come together in his second year under Potter's coaching, if he hangs in there, cause the signs are there already.

I find it harder and harder each week to defend him.

I nearly caught the pass he threw into touch. He practically threw it into my lap.

Not finding touch on penalty kicks? I have never EVER seen a player do it with such regularity.

I think the club should draw a line and show a pair. Whatever contract they have now table it and say "take it, or leave it"

Most of this forum wants Benji to be moved on for Brooks and Moses in a couple of seasons.

If Brooks and Moses don't develop as we hope (ala Miller). Or one of them gets an injury and has a massive setback. What would this forum be saying then?

I guarantee it will be "we never should have let go of Benji", etc. This forum is the biggest looker of hindsight and previous months form I've ever seen.
I'm sure last season Benji had a pretty good season with a heap of try assists and line break assists but all I read is his poor form for years now.
It's almost an anti-Tigers forum such is the lack of support.

What rubbish.

Certainly a club with no future with that kind of attitude.

Benji is NOT the MONEY MAGNET everyone makes him out to be. His marketing value is not enough to cover the amount of losses we should expect to have with him in the side moving forward.

I'm not blaming it all on Marshall. However last night he himself put a grinding halt to the momentum we built up and then with BMM conceded a penalty and I knew that was it. It was the dumbest play I have seen. Particularly by a senior member of the team who should know better. He takes VERY HIGH risks and they come off once in a blue moon and when they do it's deemed a miracle and only benji can do it. CORRECT. ONCE A YEAR.

You asked whether we should put all our eggs in the Brooke's Moses basket. Absolutely!!!!
They are young and are seen to be the brightest young halves in the comp. they are the future now. Benji is the past.

IT'S LIKE WE DON'T CARE IF WE HAVE A TEAM THAT CAN WIN AS LONG AS WE KEEP THE PLAYERS WITH MARKETING VALUE?? WHAT A JOKE.

I hope you were watching last night, i really do. Our marquee players are suppose to win games for us, not cost us opportunities of victory. I know who the dribbler is. Why should the club sign him, he has two yrs to run on his current contract, whats the hurry? please go away

EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS. THE WHOLE LOT. SPOT ON PEACHES.

Ok get rid of him, what happens next. Sironen can only play another season at best in the halves, hes too big and cannot steer a team around. Shove two players with no NRL experience (Brooks and Moses) into a team that lacks forward progression and fails to dominate opposition teams is not the answer, thats suicidal, what is the club going to achieve in that? Two players whose confidence and progression will quickly diminish when results don't go their way.

Yes i did watch the game, yeah he did some real stupid things but who didn't. Your blaming the loss solely on this man? First half, his fault all the players couldnt hold the ball, couldnt play the ball properly, let Fifita run through the middle and score a try, oh yeah it probably was hey? :crazy. If he finds touch we may score, we may not who knows. But the fact your saying he didnt "win" us the game is a load of BS.
It hilarious and almost embarrassing at times to see some people on here, one week quick to give praise and then the next even quicker to shoot them down.
You should always stick by your team, the players, the coaches and the organisation, sadly, this seems non-existent with the Wests Tigers supporter base.

How many years do you expect us to "stick by your team, the players and the coaches and the organisation" when we have no expectations of being in the top eight with the present team?

Wise up.
