Benji 2025 and Beyond

Last year he was rolling out Daime Laurie & Wakeham in the halves, they wouldn’t win in English SL.

This year it’s a kindergarten team.

We’ll learn if Benji can coach next year.
I agree with you. Like many have posted, we'll know by round 12. What concerns me is that if we are having a shocker, yes Benji will probably go, but another season will be done and Galvin will leave at the end of the year. The coaching issue for me is the biggest question mark going into 2025 and I really have no idea what is going to pan out.

Comprehend that it’s a coaches job to teach grown men and professional athletes the 2 things you’re taught from 5 years old, catching the ball and tackling ? Bro cool off 😂 I’ve seen numerous games this year with teams of melbournes quality making 10 plus errors and not once has the coach taken responsibility for poor handling. If you’re trying to argue that by Benji telling these kids to just “play football” is what caused a stupid amount of handling errors then to that I say this exact same team has done the same thing playing a slow and structured brand of football. I get not rating the coach and I personally don’t rate him either but this is eyes wide shut kind of stuff
Claiming the coach isn’t the one out there making errors is the view of a casual fan with a simplistic outlook on the game.

He’s got 6 rounds next season, 10 at the most
That will be the talk in the media all off-season. "First coach to be sacked...." "He's been told he has x amount of weeks" "If the tigers are still in the bottom four by round...."

Its not a great way to start things off in 25.

I hope Benji does get a good help , he jumped in on a dumb idea by others and now he needs the help , Richo should make the call and decide who comes not Benji , Richo needs to find the right person , Hook probably would help as he did well at panthers with a young team , we also need to get someone like James Grahame in to tuffen them up but I think he is at bulldogs helping , team needs help now as the new guys will make a difference it’s the young ones who need the guidance , Benji last night did nothing to show he can do that part , we needed to win that game , full house , 2 wins going for 3 , Naden should have been in instead of Feledy , Stef should have been left out and that other young front rower should have played ,

Marshall needs to realise, if he hasn't already, he's not coaching a squad of Benjis but a ypung group of varying abilities & strengths. He was able display his freakish talents on the back of disciplined teammates doing the basics well.

A high level of basic competence & discipline needs to be instild into this squad to allow Galvin, L Fainu, J Luai to flourish.

Moreso, the squad, & the more talented among them, need to respect the need to continually do the simple, often unglamourous aspects well to stay in games.

The coach lacks this understanding so what hope the players.

There has been improvement this year, 6 wins v 4 in 2023 but you're only as good as your last game, & last night was appalling, possibly the worst of the season.

We don’t have to wait until next year to know - he can’t coach.

Last nights coaching effort was disgraceful, he sets the standards, and the direction.

Everyone saying benji is not to
Blame I ask you a simple question.

Would Craig Bellamy or Bennet do better than benji with our team.

If you answered yes - then coaches do have an impact.

We can argue the spectrum of that impact.

But it’s clear - benji is in the bottom- Bellamy is on the top- if we had a coach in the middle we would come closer to The 8.

Benji is a huge part of the problem

And a reminder - listen to Richos podcast with James graham before he took tigers ceo job - and I quote “the most important person in a football club is the coach”

Ask yourself this… why couldn’t Ivan Cleary who has now made 4 grand finals in a row, won 3 comps in a row & looks set to make it 5 grand final appearances in a row not take this club to the top 8? Why couldn’t Madge someone who was known for turning clubs around & building tough resilient footy sides take this team to the finals? This club has been on a massive downwards trajectory since 2016 & what we’ve seen the last 3 years is the culmination of many many years of incompetence at the top level. I’m just sick of blaming coaches & recycling through shit when it’s shown many times previously that changing coaches has fixed nothing. Why don’t we actually get behind a coach for once & give him the support he needs? Can you honestly sit here & say that Benji has been provided every tool necessary to succeed? I mean just look at the gross reality of the situation 3 out of 4 of our spine last night were still eligible to play SG Ball this season & 8 out of 17 players had played 30 games or less that’s almost half the team… what coach is going to succeed with that?

we have the the worst roster in the comp by a mile and we ran last? What did we expect?
He convinced jarome to come here give him a chance with a Quilty experienced half. last night we had three 19 year olds in the spine what did we expect?
Look at cowboys when they brought in an experienced half in Chad Townsend look at broncos the year after they brought in Adam Reynolds.

Give benji a chance he definitely needs some experience around him but give him a chance with jarome
