Benji 2025 and Beyond

So you want to get Sexton here instead?

If that’s Plan A then the ceiling is very low for this team …

If it’s Plan B in case Latu isn’t cutting it, then I would be surprised if he agrees to come here …

Maybe their entire focus now is low ceiling though to get them to mid table ,..so I don’t doubt it’s probably being considered…
Sexton at 24 is a proven first grader in his prime, the exact types of players we need right now. Personally think Latu needs a couple of years to become first grade ready. Hope I’m wrong.

your entitled to your own opinion of course …but it’s interesting about Latu that a week ago most were salivating , and then after yesterday when the whole team failed that we are back to questioning him again … he deserves a real go at the position …. Even half the opportunity that Galvin was afforded for all the ordinary results they had with him would be sufficient

If that means missing out on Sexton, then I’m sure another one of those will be along before too long …he is hardly some elite talent , although he is currently playing in the best team in the comp all season

Galvin came in and looked composed from game one. Latu seemed to be seeing ghosts last night. I think he needs a couple of years and yes, it’s just my opinion on limited evidence.

Galvin started well but got worked out and I think he struggled here most of this season…in the opposition half, defences don’t respect his lack of pace and just rush up on him to cut down on his time without much fear of him sidestepping past them …this usually sent him running sideways … I don’t see this likely to change at the Dogs and the sooner they bulk him up and get him at 13 the better ( for him)

I think latu can be the better player … but it might be hard to judge him if performances from the team like last night continue …

I think Latu just needs the reps in first grade.

He isn't going to learn anything In KOE we aren't good enough

He needs to be around better players imo
Next week could be ugly. He needs to be playing in a side that’s competitive, not getting a lesson.

I don’t like to make this comparison but I suspect he’ll look very much like Luke Brooks if he’s stearing this ship without Luai.

Latu, in his first full NRL game in the halves, lost his halves partner a day before the game and probably didn't know who was playing fullback until the captains run. Up to you if you want to form an opinion off that.
From the little evidence we've got to work with, Latu will be an elite half. It's obvious from the way he passes the football, his speed, his punishing defence and his willingness.
You have Katoa , McLean, Iongi, Pattie... all young, outstanding footballers. Latu is amongst that company.

The kid has dodgy hammies and is 19. I’m just saying, give him time to develop, like the successful clubs would.

Simple thing is we don’t have the cattle!
Two massive pullouts, possibly the worst two players we could lose and supporters lose their minds when we lose a game like that. Plus the typical media posts feeding the Tigers mediocrity train and we all call for the coaches head.
My honest opinion is Benji should have more help in coaching and I’ve thought that all along. Most people love Benji and hope he succeeds but it’s a massive job to get right even with a good roster.
But I cannot wait to the day where we have a full roster and the coaches can actually put into place their ideas and structures and build an actual team. If Benji then doesn’t perform then that’s on him.
We are a long way from a good roster and we can’t afford to have even one injury to our best players. Last night case in point.
Get Willie Peters in as an assistant.

Referring back to the Pro Brad Arthur comments.

I have a very solid inside source from Parra who has shared clear examples of how Brad Arthur coached Parra and the end result on the culture of the club.

I’m a HARD NO.

I doubt Arthur will ever coach NRL again.

Might not be with us … but I think he will definitely coach NRL again ,,,might even be next year at the Titans ( saw that rumour a couple of weeks back)

My money is on Willie Peters to take over from Benji next year is we are still playing "uncoached" like we have this year....first 10 rounds of 2026 will be interesting

Benji trying to get all our middles to play the link role rather then get the right lock to do it has been an utter embarrassment and was badly highlighted last night by DCE'S intercept. Our attack will flourish if we could get a lock that can perform this role and free up Latu and Luai.

I am no wrap on Ilias as a half at all, however that guy plays straight better than anyone in the competition. A huge off season training to play lock and back up hooker would see him have a huge effect on how we play and gurn his career around. He would turn into a very good lock imo.

I'm with you KS. May, Twal, Pole, Sione & Seyfarth all played the link role at various times.

Operation 'transform Lachie Ilias into a lock and bring him back to the Tigers'!

Benji was a mentor of his when he first made grade at the Rabbits so maybe he can mentor him again.

To be fair, we were without two of our best players which are genuine key spine players.

I think if we had Luai and Bula last night it’s a different story - to an extent. Still think Benji gets axed at the end of this year

Not a bad shout.
Just depends if he sees himself as a lock or not
