Benji appreciation

Benji Marshal has shown far more grace and humility during the past 2 months than most Wests Tigers fans have….especially on here.

As for Friday night, Marshal will again be playing without a halfback....watch this place go into a meltdown again when he doesnt carve up the bunnies.

Yeah some have been harsh but what do you expect, people to praise him.

Benji's better game last week has nothing to do with Position or Brooks, it was 100% about attitude.

He either brings that, or he doesn't.

Nah man….only when it is warranted. I thought his game last Saturday deserved a good mention and quite a few on here gave him one. A lot didnt though and their hatred towards anything he does is tiresome.

I've always said the same about Benji needing a halfback. I still believe if he went to a NRL club with a decent halfback, plus the new lease of life that comes with the change, he would of made us believe we were stupid for letting him walk.

Awww

Get real.

He gets hammered for throwing passes to touchies, making 6m per game, kicking out on the full in general play and missing touch from penaltys….NOT for having a quiet game which is what "he doesnt carve up the bunnies" is.

So even when people dont comment....you still arent happy.

Talk about whinging :unamused:

I love that he took a hit up in the first set of the game against the dragons. That would have rubbed off on the younger team-mates.

You don't have to set up tries to make a difference, you just have to lead from the front.

I agree with the first part. As for the second I'm not sure it is all do with no halfback but playing against St George vs playing against Souths.

He has always made stuffups such as throwing the ball into row F and kicking poorly. The majority of the hammering he has copped has been due to his lack of involvement which has been percieved to be that he doesn't give a toss and refuses to have a go. If he is kept wide tonight, he will run it. Not having a half will hurt him though as Brooks created a lot of room.

…and heres yet another example of your extremely poor intepretation skills. I wasnt talking about people not commenting and if you had read the threads over the past week (which I know you have because you live on here), you would have noticed that quite a few have made their minds up on the bloke and it doesnt matter what he does, he will still cop bucket loads off them each week.
If you are prepared to slay a player when they play poorly (which is justified), then you should also be able to give credit where it is due....after all, he was a main contributor to the win.

Saying he was the main contributor to the win is a bit rich. I could count at least 4 players who were more instrumental that afternoon.

@stryker said:
That still makes him a main contributor doesnt it? Personally he was in my top 4

Depending on what your definition of scope of main contributors. Top 4 is nearly a 3rd of the side - hardly elite. Anyway in my opinion I had Simona, Brooks, Siro, and Tedesco above him. Benji obviosuly played better than he has in quite a while but too little too late.

Actually, the top 4 out of 17 players, who all played well is a good indicator. I had him ahead of Sirro due to game time influence. I agree Brooks, Tedesco and Simona were the highlights.

Personally I will be applauding him tonite.

There been lots of ups & downs…tonite is the time to remember the highs

Its the end of an era

agree ink. no problem with him leaving whatsoever, but tonight is a time for tigers supporters to show dignity and be good sports and just let this water pass under the bridge. i would be pretty disappointed if any fans were to boo the guy.

having said that, i think i might be even more relieved when he is gone that we wont have to hear the trite "decent halfback" rubbish any more. sheesh, give it a rest!! :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

(see what i did there with the flogging a dead horse?! i flogged the dead horse by flogging the dead horse!!)

Reckon alot of us have never been as exhilarated in a split second as when he outpaced the defence and produced that pass all those years ago. He will forever be remembered for that and rightly so, just a real shame that it turned a bit sour in these last couple of months.

Would love to see at least 1 more piece of magic before he heads into the sunset, I reckon it will be next week when he will again destroy the Cowboys hopes and dreams of a premiership :sign:

Yeah that would be a fitting way to finish I reckon :stuck_out_tongue:
