Benji return

still think theres a big difference between been fit and being ready to play NRL

Who knows with this mob, put in a better shake the Brooks or doughie.
Can't defend but neither can those two either. The whole 'brooks can defend' argument was accurate until about 3 years ago
All the "Dally M winner" crowd had coming into this season was his defence abilities. 😂

Just curious to know what the current thinking is, surrounding the board’s “development “ of coaches?
When will Benji get sacked?
23?
24?
or 25?
Or will he get promoted with his successor coming from one of his assistants?

Benji’s going to have to get some serious assistants if he is to survive his contract.

Morris is a good start but someone needs to be able to coach attack. The halves were horrible this year but the game plans are just as bad.

Farah is too inexperienced alongside a rookie coach.

Mate - I hear you.

Just for some context I'm not stoned right now. I'll go and have a top up and see if I'm a little bit more rational.

Apologies.
Wayne Bennett reckons we cant keep tossing coaches away like confetti. I know he was asking for his little mate to get a fair go, but seriously, a fair go to this administration is them laying blame and keeping their jobs.
Unless there is some kind of devine intervention, or a force majeure of biblical proportions, how is it possible Benji keeps his job beyond halway through 2025?

Lets just wait and see. Im hopeful that things will work out and WT can turn it around (even hoping this external review can get legs too). Benji looks to be surrounding himself and the squad with good assistants and all we can ask for is a good pre-season, some more deadwood weeded out from the squad and we can hit the footy field for the first game of next season with a settled 17 and this not taking half the season the sort out.

I dissgree. We would have to be wooden spoon favourites for 2024. Nothing this year has shown me tha our attack will improve. The defenxe on the edges is still ordinary even after 10 years.

Benji being a head coach after one year as an assistant is basically where the Tigers are at as a club. Throw darts and hopefully one hits eventually.

Cant see this club getting an external review. Too much ego happening in the hierachy. Even another wooden spoon next wont change much except players leaving.

I agree with most of that however i do hope that with the right support (good assistants) and a roster prepared to have a dig things could turn around. The heirarchy Lee Pascoe and the dunderheads on the board need to keep their hands off for at least 2 years despite what happens in 2024.THEY are the major problem and have been for many years

I think a better question is will he deserve to be in that role in 18 months time ? What does he have to do ?

I think this is really hard to judge apart from a massive improvement up the ladder such as challenging for the 8. If we did that would that be enough to keep him there. What if he had a falling out with a star player ?

The follow-up question is if he deserves to be in that role will they actually keep him there. The board or Pascoe or whoever are clearly making a lot of decisions in relation to the coaching staff and maybe even interfering in recruitment and retention decisions.

Terrible call giving him the reins.
6 month apprenticeship with no prior experience as a coach at any lvl.
Bomber as head before the end of 24.
Perhaps. There have been a host of terrible calls which landed the footy department at this point, where we have a head coach with virtually zero experience. I think we get another spoon in 24 and Pascoe shows some tolerance by leaving Benji in the job until round 10 in 25.
When Pascoe said he’ll see this through, not leaving until we’re playing regular finals footy, why did the board not think there’s something not right about this?
Tony Andreachio is the board member who has been here since the new constitution was done n dusted. Why did he accept Pascoe’s generous offer?

Benji’s biggest advantage is that he’s a likeable guy. But that’s not enough. Players are reluctant to come to a club which has a weak administration and is anchored to the floor with no positive vision.
It’s pretty bad when the people at the top are the white ants.

What would be a reasonable success bar winning more games than the last two years? Win ten? Win 8 (Sum total of two years)? That's really the only measure of success we need.

I've got about as much confidence in benji as a coach as I did in Brooks being a halfback. Hopefully sezer plays like Thurston nxt year and Bomber does most of the coaching.

What is realistic as well ? I have really low expectations for next season.
