Benji shouldnt be at #6 or #7 next year

to keep it simple..

marshall vs thurston
marshall vs dce
marshall vs foran
marshall vs reynolds
marshall vs reynolds
marshall vs cronk
marshall vs sutton

all of them have been MUCH better than him this years..

marshall vs mullen
marshall vs wallace
marshall vs norman
marshall vs coote
marshall vs wallace

he's more so in that ball park..

accept it, he is not an efficient play maker who can grind the whole 80 minutes. he's more of a jennings/hodges like player.

dont get me wrong, im not hating on him. he's an awesome player and i love the fact we have him at the tigers, he just isnt an organiser.
 
I've been saying for years that Marshall could have been a top 5 fullback of all time if he had have been thrust in there from a young age. If he just focused on his running game from the back and chimed into the backline to utilise his decent ball playing skills he would be mouth watering. As it stands we're stuck with him in the halves til he retires.
 
Taking all of the emotion out of it, he is too much of a liability now. I honestly believe we would be better without him now.

Funnily I am just as dissapointed tonight as I was at Penrith Park when he did his shoulder that night. Same feeling but for the opposite reasons.

yeah its too late to fullback, not for centre though.
 
Put Benji back at number 6 asap.
Sheens has tinkered with his game way too much & given him the burden of too much responsibility.
Benji & the Tigers need a new coach. That is the number one action required to start the move back up the competition ladder.
 
Move him to 6 and give him a decent half-back.

A Robert Lui or Scotty Prince would be suffice.

A mate and I did the same exercise with moltzen and it makes it so clear he is the worst fullback in the league:

He should be back at 6, the problem is is the expectation of the coach that Benji can control the game, he can't. How can an unpredictable player like him be asked to control a game? It's not in his mindset.

Also, given the constant, and mostly unnecessary, shuffling of the backline, that's not going to help either. Hard to find consistency when players get moved around all the time.
 
I know the game against the Dogs really took the wlnd out of our sails. We was robbed! Benji has only played a few good games this year. He gifted the Storm 2 tries last night but I think, if he stays with us, it has to be in the halves. I could be wrong though. i cant think straight. Im still a shattered man!
 
Yes he should be and yes he will be number 7 next year and he is and has been one of the best halves in 2012 not the best but top 5

Until Barba,probably the best
Benjis best work was when he had a playmaker inside him at 7 like Prince or Lui.
His best work was also when he plays for the team rather than tomorrows headlines via miracle passes on 1st tackle,ridiculous & inept kicksetc etc
Benji's drowning in his own hubris,& coach Sheens sees nothing wrong with it
Just cant wait until next season….yeah,rite

Exactly, he reacts to what happens around him. Barba and Hayne are the same.

We don't need a world class half, just someone to direct us around the park and take the pressure off of Benji.
 
Agreed with above posts - we need a direct and controlled no. 7 who can lead the play, so Benji can do his thing off the back of that.
Firstly we need a new coach, someone to realize Benjis greatest potential is not at 7.

Benji is fine when he has a genuine half partnering him. If you look at when we make the finals & when we don't…John Morriss etc

as i just posted in another thread, you have benji as a centre and lawrence as his winger, that side of the field is lethal…. koribete on the otherside (with another attacking centre) and we are finally taking shape.
 
New coach + full season at 5/8 + a decent half and he will be back to his best. Why can't sironen play halfback?
