Thats a different issue. Thats the price you pay to promote the game in Melbourne. Sydney Swans used to get very generous salary cap concessions to promote the game in NSW. It actually also helps us indirectly because having a Melbourne team means that the television rights are higher. No one is going to pay serious money to broadcast a game that only has teams in NSW and a couple in QLD.

There are good policy reasons for such an advantage.

Agreed,but nontheless they have a huge cash advantage over evryone else in the comp,which means they have the best staff,equipment and can poach juniors hard all over Aust.

It will be interesting to see if the powers that be will continue to pump coin into it after they leave the NRL.

Do you mean that channel 9 pay extra to have the tv rights because Melbourne are in the comp, but then they don't bother to show the game live there?

They actually do but the more important television rights are paytv and they definitely pay more depending upon what states have teams in the comp.

Not just that,but with the re-development of the leagues,and his 200 plus games for the tigers,and his 20 odd games for NSW and about 10 for Oz.
