Again the off season lull, something to discuss I suppose.
Looking at players the tigers or other players other clubs have gotten really cheap that have provided great return for that investment.

Ok I'm going with robbie Mears, whatuira, TNT and Shane elford

Other clubs, Harvey Howard at the broncs, luke odonnel at the cows, Craig Stapleton at the panthers and pretty much anyone Melbourne has ever signed!!

Hopefully at the end of the year we can say anasta at the tigers

Not sure Luke O'Donnell was great value for Cowboys given he missed so many games through injury and suspension. He wouldn't have been on peanuts either making Origin teams at various stages.

That was my first thought. Wasn't he still getting paid by Canberra AND the Roosters when he first joined us?

x2.

Utai comes to mind as well - only on match payments when he first started with us.

and call me crazy, but I think Robbie Farah is up there as well. Certainly not the cheapest I understand, but "Value for Money" I think he goes pound for pound with some of the cheaper guys.

Some players value isn't just their on field value but also how they raise the profile of clubs, get bums on seats, help sell merchandise etc …

Are the many players more marketable than say Benji ? I remember watching kids play footy yelling they were the "Benji Step"

Thurston in his first year at the Cowboys.
Bulldogs were still paying his full contract and he ended up going on to win the Dally M and take cowboys to the grand final.

Brett Finch in 2013, playing for minimum wage if i remember correctly…handy half back up at that price

With the promise of a gig after footy, born to be a marketing/sales man, one the funniest guys in footy. Prob in the top couple most popular with the players yet strangely regularly features in most dislike players in the fan polls.

Fans don't like him for the simple fact that he is a world-class whinger and sook.
