Big Improvers - 2010

Dont forget Dwer! He came a long way in 1 season! Lui and Ayshford also worthy mentions. Oh, and one more…...

Benji

Mitchell Brown. Where the hell did he come from?

I think with the exception of Farah, who has had phenomenal 07-08 seasons, every player on our roster improved.

yeh i think mitch brown was the darkie at the end of the year, he was outstanding. Pity he took a while to find his feat earlier at fullback because we could have saved our money on wade (if he keeps getting injured). I remember a full page spread on mitch before the lead up to a match where brown was debuting at fullback. unfortunately he took his time but eventually held his place in the team.

hope we find a place for him in 2011? any ideas?

Umm, fullback? I hope he is sheens' first pick for fullback, all he needs to improve on is his speed and support play

support play yes um pace no i remember when he ran down the titans speedster in defence.i think his pace is deceptive
of course you cannever be too fast but i think where he could improve his kick returns he needs to use his size and run harder.his positional play in defence is superb.

i think we will find brown in the centres next yr, ashford to the pack, ive been told brown can kick goals but didnt want to put his hand up too

Mitch Brown I found to be surprisingly taller than Chris Lawrence though a few kgs lighter.

Cant wait to see the results of the off season, only thing is there's two months till they start again.

I hate off season…

most improved = bryce gibbs. hes always been good but this yr he took it to another level. more minutes, try-saving tackles, higher work rate. good effort gibbsy

I agree steve-o. I never really rated Gibbsy, but I think he was our best prop this year and stepped up when the team really needed it.

Not a player in the squad who didn't do something extra this year. I was critical of Farah early on, but maybe our expectations of him are unrealistic? I mean at the end of the day he almost won the Dally M!

For me Gibbs was also a surprise stand-out, and the improvement of Dwyer, Ayshford and Fiftia was pleasing but expected. It was good to see Brown recover from rock-bottom in the Cronulla game and Lui really stepped up at times.

Almost everyone improved this season, there was no one who played played crapper than before. But, there were some who didn't improve and I like to call then CONSISTENT!. Here are some few consistent blokes

1\. Farah (almost one the Dally M but to me he was consistently good however we needed him to spark :frowning: sorry Robbie)
2\. Galloway
3\. Beau
4\. FITZY (constantly s***)
5\. Payten (awesome from the start to finish)

We used 30+ people this year and apart from these people, mostly everyone improved!! Oh boy, how good does 2011 look?

my wrap of most. Know several players are missing mckinnion/moltz daniella. Not enough games to comment

SEASON WRAP
1\. Brown - LEAPS AND BOUNDS. Rock solid at the back has earnt himself a position in the 17 for sure.
2\. Tuqiri - what can u say but wow, lose TNT but gain big LT (salivating and next year!)
3\. Ayshford - Very poor first half, 2nd half was frightening good needs a good winger then watch out!
4\. Lawrence - Good first half, offers great service to LT. Unfortunately jaw broken and didn't have enough games to get back in form in the important time of year
5\. Ryan - thought he was fairly solid for the first 20 games. Not offering much but finishing plays of OK as a winger. Unfortunately he declined rapidly, especially during the finals. Not first grade standard but a good club man.
6\. Marshall - improved and matured all year. First half was a little shaky, finished season extremely strong
7\. Lui - LEAPS AND BOUNDS. Almost every game he got better, really showed us his skills in the game v Dragons i hope we see more next year

8\. Gibbs - Solid as, big improvement his defense is rock solid and always puts the effort in
9\. Farah - the nrl have ruined farah with never calling penaltys on marker defence. Still had a great year needs to continue to work on 5th tackle options.
10\. Galloway, really improved once he got consecutive games under his belt. Was ON FIRE in finals
11\. Fulton – Came back in tip top form. Better then ever. Defense is amazing, and ruins the suicide lines for benji to hit.
12\. Ellis – Amazing, has really worked on his line running and every tackle he makes u feel he’s about to rip the arms off the opponent and beat them down.
13\. Heighno – WORKHORSE. Big big BIG season for Rhino.. 110% Effort every game.

14\. Payten – Big improvement, Defense on ruck is amazing, works well in set plays and has the hands of GOD.
15\. Fifita – Worked his way up to some impressive form with his big fend. Defense needs to improve (he is still young)
16\. Dwyer – On fire big future can’t wait too see more of this kid!
17\. Fitzy – well what can u say

the entire team improved, as they made the top 8.
if they go into the off season, thinking we are travelling ok, it could turn out bad.
e.g eels & bulldogs in 2010.
enjoy time off, then get back into training real hard.
don't talk to the media, let on field actions do talking.

Geoff Daniella definitely exceeded my expectation. Watching him play at Penrith last year, I didn't think he was worth buying, even on minimum wage, but would certainly be in my top 25 for next year, can't understand why he wasn't used against the Raiders in FW2 when Lawrence clearly wasn't fit.

Gibbs was exceptional in the Finals Series, had a barnstormer against the Roosters, needs to carry this type of form to the regular season, still think he is a little hesitant with ball in hand.

Ayshford has become one of the most dangerous centres in the game in only a short space of time, being a fairly young member of the team, I can only see him getting better, his application in defence was also great and shut down opposing centres really well for most of the season.

Farah has improved as a captain and is now starting to put in consistent performances, thoroughly deserved Hooker of the Year at the Dally M's. With him at the helm, the Tigers attack will always be potent, and his partnership with Marshall will be essential if we are to progress to further finals series. As long as those two can play the percentages and pull out the Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon card when necessary, we're fine.
