line speed in defence :bash :bash :bash

the warriors were making 50m + a set from dummy half runs and 1 pass off the ruck in in behind the play the ball. our line speed in defence was non-existent. allowing them to run 10m before getting to our defensive line is terrible.

u gotta get up off the line when defending boys…..something gibbs does very well for us. i hope he is back

i hope we have some better line speed at Cambo this week

I think the 50 - 70 minute mark is starting to be an issue too. There has been periods in those last 2 games where we look lost with the football coming out of our own end. Weird passes being thrown, a complete lack of leadership and direction, which is odd seeing as Farah is one of the best hookers in the game and we also have a World Cup winning captain in the halves.

Need to find metres alot more effectively in the middle third of the pitch in the second half if we are going to do anything this season.

Bryce Gibbs will help improve that whe he is back Just remember we are missing arguably are three best defensive players in the side

How was the kicking game???

On the radio and a few mates who watched the game said " The only reason we won is because the Warriors played worse than us"

Is that correct???

Raiders next week…

Kicking was real average.
Jarrod Mullen on the other hand, his kicking has been so on point & he's been directing his team around the park brilliantly.
I believe he is the man for the NSW #7 this year, he has it all over Mitchell Pearce and is finally standing up and taking command of his troops.

I agree with this and also the 'looking lost' comment but it is not just the last two rounds - the team are serial offenders of this the last two years!
Not having Gibbs and Payten being underdone is probably a factor with the line speed in defence but the team has often struggled with coming off our own line - we simply have not had that tough attitude to get back and into position quickly to hit the line hard, instead they are sucking in the big ones. Is that fitness (we are always hearing about how fit they are now) or mentality?
Sometimes it seems they are definitely trying to conserve energy.

The difference between our defensive line and the Warriors defensive line was Tony Archer and Alan Shortall.

Line speed in defence is only effective when you are putting teams on there bums… With 70 missed tackles in 2 games, technic and a straigh line defence is more important... Line Speed will come once we address these 2 areas...

agree with the missing Gibbs bit. he is so underrated to our pack.

Line Speed and dominant tackles go hand in hand. if you are not getting up off the line to meet the attackers, they are going to get quick play the balls, and a roll on.

once we hit the front you could notice the instant change in attitude and we actually went up to meet the defence, put them on their back, and all of a sudden they were only making 30m a set.

Last year we struggled Rounds 1 & 2 got out of jail in round one against the Eagles, a great night and result but we should never had won lets be honest. We got found out against the Roosters in round 2 but round 3 we came out and smashed Parra and our line speed and defence won us that game.

It's a very similar story to this year and hopefully by next Sat night we will really come out guns blazing against the Raiders.

Tigers!!!
