Souffs fans and toothbrushes........

Don't you need teeth to use a toothbrush?

You know it was a souffs fan who invented them or they'd be called a "Teethbrush"......

I'll show myself out.....

I don't even think we are in Penrith's top 5. Parra, Storm, Dogs (Barret, Burton etc), Sharks and now Rabbits

So, everyone hates Penrith.

You obviously don't know enough Penrith supporters. They hate our guts after Leichhardt last year. In fact the several of them i know couldn't wait to play us again as it was scheduled to be at Penrith until Covid changed it all.

The Bulldogs and Penrith have potential to become real rivals given the Bulldogs raid on the current squad and now being aligned with Gould - especially if the Dogs get results. I agree we hate Penrith but until we pose a threat to them on the field we are not rivals.

The downfall of the clubman killed a lot of rivalries. You don't get many one-club players anymore. If a club goes through a bad patch, the player roster gets cleaned out and the club loses all of its culture. A lot of players have no idea about their club's history. They don't have team mates to teach them about rivalries, and why we may have a chip on our shoulder from certain opposition.

So e.g. Dogs vs Eels has lost its shine due to both clubs cleaning house at least once in the last decade.

Once players became professional and started changing teams for a bigger paycheck, rivalries took a back seat. Even in local leagues, things have settled. A couple of years ago I went to watch Cessnock V Kurri Kurri, after having heard stories of the bloody battles between the two sides. Reserve grade had a heap of spite, with stiff arms and fighting throughout. We thought: "we're in for a show here, in the top grade". Unfortunately, about half of each top grade side were ex fringe NRL players and had no real passion for the towns they were representing. It was a fair quality of football, but lacked in fire and brimstone.
I think the media try to promote rivalry, with supporters like Crowe and his "Book of Feuds", but I imagine that a few of the Souths players probably live in the eastern suburbs and share coffee shops and barbers with their "hated" opposition.

The only one that's kind of alive is Roosters v Souths due to both being foundation clubs and sharing some junior league boundaries. Even then, the rivalry lacks interest if one club's struggling.

The rest are made up by the media.

History and rivalry went out the window a while back when lawyers and bankers were put in charge of the league and clubs.

I think the greatest rivalry tends to shift every decade or so. in the 70s it was Wests/Manly. 80s it was Eels/Dogs. in the 2000s it was Manly/Melbourne. the Souths/Chooks rivalry wasn't a thing until the early 2000s really, Souths hated Balmain more for ages as the Chooks were a nothing club for many years.

I do think there is some genuine feeling between us and Penrith, but it's not at a Souths/Chooks level at this stage. it might get to that point in the future but that's only going to happen if we improve in the next couple of years. if that happens, it might become a date we always circle when the draw comes out.

Souths/roosters don't have a real rivalry. It's just the battle of the cheque books.
And as much as I can't stand Ivan Cleary, I don't hate the Panthers. I'm not sure that's really building at all. I hate Souths because of what they did in 1909 to Balmain. Scum bags then and still today.

I was there for nearly 2 years, and I still hate them. I even have family contacts at the club and I STILL hate them!

WTs supporters Vs Everyone.
Anyone who gets in ~~the team's~~ our way.
It's us against the World.
The DT or Foxsports. Crawley, Buzz and Hooper & Co. Ivan Cleary and former players (aka traitors). Our opposition fanbase on a weekly basis and any upcoming games.
We even manage to fight it out between ourselves and have perceived rivalries with our own players.... and sometimes when the moment calls for it, who's more a fan/supporter.

Grew up enjoying Storm vs Manly but today seems like only Bunnies and Roosters have that fierce but genuine rivalry.

I know a bunch of Souths supporters and they hate Roosters with a passion. I'm not so convinced it goes back the other way from the Roosters, but the anti-Rooster sentiment is huge in the Rabbits supporters base, by far stronger than any other club and I'd argue rivals animosity between any other two clubs.

I love game day the most. Everyone is out in full force.
It becomes an all out war on here so I can only imagine how strong the troops are on other social media platforms.

This is like a kindergarten on game day compared with other sites. Hopefully now the rent a cop has gone it will relax somewhat.
