Billy Slater gets away again

So Josh Dugan is getting banned for a week for a shoulder charge, yet Slater didn't even get cited during the game, despite the fact we all saw him try to put a shoulder charge on Nofo. How does this guy keep getting away with stuff?

It wasnt a shoulder charge. It was a poorly executed attempt at a tackle but wasnt a shoulder charge therefore he wasnt cited. Quit the conspiracy theories on this topic…it sounds pathetically desperate.

I agree, no shoulder charge at all. Some people must be watching and not having the faintest clue on what a shoulder charge really is. How on earth did Lawrence get pinned for a shoulder charge the previous week.

Technically yes it was a shoulder charge. **One rule for one, another for the rest**.

I am sick of hearing this…it is just crap.
Go on NRL.com and watch the replay. He was caught in no-mans land as his intention was to belt him but knew he couldnt so he ended up with a halfarsed effort. His arms however were sort of involved. Before this stupid rule was introduced Billy would have thrown the kitchen sink at Nofo but he is no longer allowed and this is the result. He half led with his shoulder, half tried to tackle him and totally missed.

Incompetence is no excuse, he is a professional.

Now of course the rule is a joke, all they had to do was penalize any heavy contact with the head, be it from a swinging arm or a shoulder, rather than all shoulder charges.

The problem is different standards for the same thing!!!!!! It is a problem at every level and a result of biases that ruin the integrity of the competition.

Who cares, its a **BS rule** anyway.

Yeah it is…apart from the great collisions between the big men, it has made the cover tackle from a desperate fullback almost impossible to achieve. There was nothing better than watching the winger dive for the corner and the fullback throw his whole body at him to save the try. Koro got in trouble a month back for resorting to how he was taught to do this...It is a weak rule.

I care. It clearly WASNT a shoulder charge. Slater slipped in making the tackle. If you het suspended for that, they may as well penalising tackles around the legs.

Weren't people up in arms when Koro got done for a shoulder charge earlier in the yr under the same circumstances? just blind Storm/Qld hating.

Wait till you see the contentious ''high shot'' on JWH in tonites game, which was initially ruled OK by checchin, JWH pleaded to look at the Video, FOX replay it and VR Maxwell decides to overule checchin, it goes on report, Roosters penalty in front, kick goal…scoot to an 8 point lead

Games turning into a farce

Dont think he shoulda been suspended for it but by the rules it is a shoulder charge. Did he use his arms in the tackle? no. thus shoulder charge. have a look at the thread ink linked, there's screenshots of the tackle not one with him using his hand.

He should however, have been suspended for some of the otherr acts he's done this season. And especially since they have been building up week after week.

He slipped. It wasnt a shoulder charge. This is high paced game. Nofa got there quicker than he expected and he got smashed.

There was absolutely nothing in the tackle.

FWIW I support outlawing the shoulder charge but that wasnt one of them.

Nothing wrong with just penalising the shoulder charges that made contact with the head….it was a small percent

We saw 3 concussions in tonites game....all accidental

But hey...lets just put frigging velcro tags on their shorts and be done with it eh?
