Birchgrove Oval

Wests Tigers should play a game there a year, one of the best grounds in Australia IMO and if we can play at Leichardt we can play there too. Just something I would love to happen 😛ray:

Picturesque ground with a great view, but hopelessly lacking in even basic facilities. Junior games only there Milky.

Hmmmm….love and hate Birchgrove. Did my knee twice there resulting in reconstructions........saw a kid die after a tackle........but also some great games and memories. As for a NRL game....i dont think it would work. Maybe a trial match

Didn't the AwFuL make a play at making Birchgrove A gAyFL round a little while ago and thus garner some publicity about how Rugby League was dying in it's heartland.
I'm from the other side of the great divide but I recall that in the NSWRL Cup Balmain played Wests in 2008 to commemorate the centenary of League, but to suggest that a NRL trial game there is ludicrous!, even for a trial you still need to make some $$$ and there is no way unless a very generous benefactor came to the party would it be feasible.
I would enjoy going to Lidcombe as it's now 30 years since I have been to a game there but remember that the trial against the Panthers at Camden drew a healthy crowd and last year a NSWRL Cup trial at Bathurst had around 3000 to 4000 spectators.

Would be fabulous Milky - but not practical.

I remember playing many games for Balmain United there - brings back good and bad memories.

Too far away for the fans to see and facilities - well don't blink - you'll miss them.

Great thought though Mate! If Only.

Balmain Juniors protect it with ferocity

It is Balmain PCYCs home ground, but with only a few grades the club is small….so each weekend a balmain club is assigned Birchy as its home ground for the weekend...that way its always used and those victards can look but no touch

No way could you play an NRL game there....even a trial would be impossible

I got sent off there as a trainer for Shamrocks u/14s a few years ago...stupid irish ref - no idea

What is the crowd capacity? Last time I was down at Birchgrove to kick a footy around I don't remember much viewing space.

It's a suburban park…The greeny locals would have a fit....it may have seating for 100 ( park benches)

Not gonna happen
