China has just outlawed all cryptocurrency transactions, effectively making bitcoin illegal.

China has been working towards that since August.
So the Cripto holders, traders and customers have been looking for options for that event for some time now and plans well advanced in relocating their operations to Eastern Europe and Central America-US etc.
Another thing is ….. what China says and does are not the same thing. They are after control and regulation so that they can introduce their own version of Cripto financials when they are in position to do so.
Can’t see Cripto going away any time soon.
It’s very much an open gambit for speculators and risk takers at the moment. The only things that separates it from the Stock Market at present, is lack of Government regulation and approval from the Banking Sector. But that’s coming so…..

Interesting debate this.

I can understand that western governments may like Cryptocurrencies because it allows for money to be siphoned out of China and the like but still, there are literally thousands of these and put simply if they are a form of currency which is appreciating against fiat currencies that means central banks can't control the money supply which basically makes central banks redundant.

Wh6 wouldn't they move to ban this?

Am I missing something?
,
Because under Government control and regulation …. They become just another profitable (taxation compliment) part of the finance sector.

Thing is in theory then if they are used as a currency and since the are generally appreciating against fiat currencies why should any of us hold dollars for example?

If adoption increases central banks and their control over money supply, interest rates etc as well as fiat currencies will all be obsolete if allowed?

It may get to the stage people demand payment and salary in Cryptocurrencies.

Would the government allow that?
And if so why hold fiat currencies at all?

Game over.

China rules the world.

Said no one ever ???

Are you a tourist?

Haha.
China has been buying up Australia for ages now.
Look around your house. Everything, made in China.

I'm not going to even debate it further with you because your response is so misinformed and clueless I don't even feel it'd be worth my time to waste another moment of time in discussing this with you.

Hope you've had a great weekend buddy.
Go Tigers.

Maybe you’ve been a Tigers fan for to long LOL
China banning bit coin is far from game over in fact it signals the opposite, but like you said to me you’re so misinformed about crypto I’m not even sure why you post in here.. maybe the rumours thread is better suited for you.
Hope you had a good weekend.

Go the Tigers ??

These NFTs are ridiculous.

I understand it but wow, people are seriously throwing money at little corny graphics?

I guess it's marketed to children, young adults and imbeciles but I just cannot... beyond stupidity.

Yes some of the ‘collectable’ mass generated cartoon images are, I think, a bit stupid. But is it much different to collecting a stupid football card?

If you look deeper into NFTs, there are many many artists finding an audience and market they never could of imagined. All through their own promotion of their art. And established artists able to sell items to a market that could never afford their original physical pieces.

So, if you want to, you can find good, positive outcomes of these new technologies and communities and we shouldn’t be quick to write-off these trends.

At least with a footy card it is a physical assets and their would in theory be limited quantities available now.

I heard that recently tht a virtual GTHO Falcon was auctioned off for 54k.

This is ridiculous.

This is the issue with all these things really. I like the bitcoin concept but there's too many of them and ultimately as I said above if it threatens fiat currencies or the central banks control of money supply I can forsee the government moving against them.

I think of Cryptocurrencies more as a collectable but if that's the case whats it worth.

I have a 2005 framed limited edition premiership piece which I bought for 2.5k from the club back then but at least I can touch it and look at it.

If Cryptocurrencies are going to be a currency then were all silly to hold dollars. Don't get me wrong I often think about it, is it the way?

I would like advice please. I am seeking to enter the market to purchase shares/cryptocurrency, and I want it to be through some software/app/program that I can manage myself. I would only be using small amounts of real money to purchase with at first (small i.e. less than $500 all up) until I gain further knowledge, and trust in the situation.

So advice on software/apps/programs and websites where I can read up which entities to invest in would be very much appreciated thank you.

I do my trading on Binance but there are lots of other exchanges (Kraken, Coinbase, Coinspot etc). They all have apps as well and are fairly easy to use

On YouTube I think Coin Bureau is a very good resource. He does a lot of in depth analysis of the market as a whole as well as individual cryptos. I think Benjamin Cowen is very good too (also on YouTube).

All the different cryptos have websites to an extent, but you can learn more from messari.io which is an aggregator that illustrates what they do, investors, tokenomics etc. coinmarketcap.com and coingecko.com also provide information on most coins.

If you’re looking at doing charts etc TradingView is the best platform for that imo.

Hope this helps

To purchase shares I would just go with something like Commsec. Probably easiest to just do it with whoever you already bank with. All major banks have platforms that are easy to set up and use.

Also be aware that when trading shares or any Instrument including Cryptocurrencies often some platforms allow you to only trade the underlying real asset and some you hold derivatives so you are making a"bet" with another trader but do not hold anything real so be aware of the counter party risk.

Mhmm thank you. I'll definitely read up on that.

I do my trading via/with Kraken. They have pretty strict vetting protocol and you will be registered. US based company with local reps also,
Cripto doing pretty ok with reasonable increases in recent days which is pretty remarkable given all the rubbish moves in China etc.
