Adam Blair and Ben Smith are both facing a week on the sidelines after they were charged by the NRL Match Review committee on Monday.

Wests Tigers’ Blair was charged with Grade 1 dangerous contact – unnecessary pressure, for a tackle on the legs of Bulldogs centre Josh Morris in Friday night’s 32-20 loss to Canterbury at Allianz Stadium.

Blair will miss his side’s important clash with North Queensland at Dairy Farmers Stadium if he takes the early plea.

It is a blow for the Wests Tigers who have fallen outside of the top eight with Friday night's loss.

Parramatta’s Smith is also facing a week on the sideline after he was charged with a grade 1 dangerous contact – unnecessary pressure on the head/neck of Sea Eagles forward Brent Kite, in his side’s 40-24 loss to Manly at Brookvale Oval on Sunday afternoon.

Smith will miss his side’s rivalry round match against the Bulldogs on Friday night at ANZ Stadium if he takes the early plea.

Both players will have until midday on Tuesday to enter a plea.

Unnecessary pressure on the leg? I don't remember the incident but it sounds like weak charge. What exactly is the borderline between necessary and unnecessary pressure? Is there a PSI or kilopascal measure?

Far out, hasn't that guy learnt from last year at the storm where he punched Glenn Stewart, he is an absolute grub. I think since Blair has come to the club he has been really poor and just can't get his act together. I understand coming to a new club is tough but he has played rugby league for his country with Benji so he should know what he is capable of doing.

Saw the replay on fox sports news. Looked pretty weak in my opinion. Grabbed J-Mo's ankle and pulled it sideways in a tackle. There will be plenty of worse tackles every game. It is certainly worth fighting in my opinion.

100% agree, it was a dog act and hard to believe there has been nothing come of it. That kind of tackle ruins knees if not careers. The match review panel leaves me scratching my head yet again.
