OFFICIAL Blake Ayshford [Discussion]

I'm starting to believe that the Tigers will have the NSW Origin centre pairing for 2012.
I thought that Ayshford should have been selected for game 3 this year as Hayne is not a centre.
Lawrence almost already has one arm in the number 4 jumper for NSW, which leaves the right centre spot. The contenders for the right side I would imagine would be , Morris, Jennings and maybe even Idris. With Lyon and Cooper unavailable and Hopoate on his mission, there aren't too many solid options left.
Morris doesn't defend well enough for Origin and I think he proved that in the games he did play. Jennings is good, he's just injury prone. And Idris, I really think size is the only thing the bloke has going for him.
Forgive me if this is a biased assessment or if it has waned off topic a little bit, but I think Origin football is an achievable goal for Ayshford in 2012.

I'd hate to see Ayshford move to the forwards. I think he'd struggle with the amount of defence and hitups.
I'd love to see more pace on him too but I just dont think he has it. That said he still makes a quality centre with his lanky build and size making him a difficult opponent.

The one thing I'd like to see improve is his combination with Ryan or whoever the winger is. He has the abilty to poke his head and ball through the line and can stand in a tackle making the offload possibilities increase. As some say his passing game is non existant at present, but I think Ryan also needs to be positioning himself better to receive the ball. I'd like to see Ryan cutting back in behind Ayshford more, but Sheens should be running drills with Ayshfords sole purpose to catch and pass quickly to Ryan. Practice, practice, practice….because Its only a confidence issue imo.

I wonder with King coming back to the NRL will he be a chance for an NSW SOO 3 or 4 jersey

Pictures can tell a lot of different stories if taken at the right time. It does look as though he wasn't training though so will be interesting to find out why. I can't see any bandaging or the like so maybe just a little niggle

Maybe no one was really training at the time, as everything may have been being prepared, and these are the photos that they have decided to put up.

I'm sure we're many photos taken on the day and it could be purely coincidental that that's the impression we get from these selected photos..

I could be wrong, but it's a possibility…

Ayshford looks to have put on a lot of size as was suggested earlier on the website. He looks a lot bigger than last year. Lets just hope he still has some pace.
And from what i've seen on the photos of the pre season training Moltzen does look a bit bigger around the arms and shoulders too.

Yeah agreed Moltz and Ayshford look considerably bigger, Ayshford has appeared to be very wirely the past few season but looks much stockier, Molts too. And Woods is just massive as always…it can only do wonders for the boys coming into 2012 being surrounded by such high caliber company both past and present and will no doubt give them that hunger to strive to higher levels in their game. Great work by Stuart to get this up and running for all concerened.

If he wasn't training he wouldn't have been there

Its a squad…a prelim bonding thing moreso than pre game training...its to give the guys something to work towards...there was dinner and motivational talks later
"The players will enter camp with Blues Origin Legends Glen Lazarus and Steven Roach next Friday at Coogee for a weekend of skills sessions, lectures and team building activities."

I mean more that if he was injured and couldnt train he wouldnt have been standing around in the rain wearing a singlet, that achieves nothing.

It makes him feel part of the squad

Same for Tariq Sims…moreso than sitting elsewhere apart from them, out of the rain feeling excluded.

Maybe we've (Qld) found a loophole and he was just down there to let the NSW hierachy know now he is Qlder

Seriously though he may have a minor injury and was just wanting to be there for the experience and to show he is keen to wear the Blues jersey

He may not know all the members of the squad personally and may also be meeting those players

I wonder what was being discussed here…..

AW: Fancy a game of park cricket following training boys...no ring ins though
