Ayshford has been solid and is the least of our problems. The inconsistent defenders like Dwyer and Farah are more of an issue at the moment IMO.

At least he consistently makes his tackles and makes hardly any errors. When the blokes in the middle learn to tackle, Ayshford will go back to scoring tries consistently.

i like ayshford in the centres but mabye we need to sign another centre as back up for chris lawrence if he was to get injured again next year because even though i think moltzen is doing a good job, i just don't think that he fits the role properly. I would like to see maybe daine nielsen from the melbourne storm at the tigers because apparently he is very good. In fact i don't miss collis at all i think he was a traitor for leaving us.

Collis was told to look elsewhere because he spent the majority of his time injured and failed to kick on from the promise he showed as a junior.

Dean Collis frustrated me as you can see he had talent but didn't bring his game to another level. Also injuries did not help his cause.

Cronulla are struggling for outside backs and he can't get a gig. His form must be oridinary.

I would love to see Ayshford play off the bench as he can cover the forwards and back and we buy someone like Joe Tomane who appears to be on the outer with the Titans.

We need 4 forwards on the bench to complete in today's NRL.

The downward spiral in effect -

Collis won't get any better playing in reggies - however cant get a First Grade Game for the Sharkies.

Unfortunately he'll go the way of Shannon Gallant, Arana Taumata, Daine Laurie - Nowhere.

I must be in the minority.

Barring two games I have been wrapped with Ayshfords form this season. How can I not be wrapped by a guy who makes really good metres even in beaten sides and is strong on the right in defence?

He rarely gets clean ball. He is used as a blind side hitup and every ball in a strong movement invariably ends with Dwyer cutting a outside in line. He has rarely seen a clean feed in structured attack. Than again our attack is becoming less structured by the week it seems

Ayshford is one of the few that has turned up to play every week.

I am more than happy having him start in the centres. He's strong, rarely makes mistakes & defends well. He makes good metres when called upon.

People calling for Joe Tamane are suffering the "Grass is greener" syndrome. Why can't he get a start at the Titans? Why do they need to sign Idris to replace him?

Funny how we convince ourselves that guys that can't get a run elsewhere are better than guys that play consistantly here.

With Benji, Lui, Lawrence, Lote & McKinnon- there's enough 'srike power' on the field. Ayshford & Brown/Utai/Ryan need to 'not cost' the Tigers games- which Ayshford is very good at. I can't remember a game where I thouhgt Ayshford's direct involvement cost the Tigers a win.

I think I'm in the same boat as you Smeg. You rarely see him cut down in a clean tackle, he usually busts or drags the first defender and then is wrapped up by the second/third. Has an uncanny ability to get the arm free as well, and while he does offload, it doesn't seem to be often enough and Sheens should be utilising him more to generate second phase play as much as he can, especially while left side is in the shape its in.

He should only get better and stronger as well . As said previouly he just learning how to deal with being a marked man Give him time He'll be fine Hopefully next for a longish term contract (Sorry after Blair of course)

Love the way Ayshford plays, as well as Mitch. I understand it seems a bit diff. to how they played in 2010 but let's remember that Ayshford has Utai now, who i think has been great also, but that's new for both of them PLUS since Rd.4 Mitch had Daniella at centre for 2 games then Beau was at wing Rd.7 so Mitch back to centre & now Moltzen at centre. Not trying to make excuses but that is alot of changes in a short period, & don't know how many people noticed but Moltz is a bit of a ball hog, not great if your his winger! I give Ayshford, Mitch, Utai & Moltz alot of credit considering the circumstances so far in 2011\. So whoever partners Lote, i hope it's Mitch, i reckon we'll see a huge improvement.

Believer Ayshford commits to Tigers
Glenn Jackson
May 19, 2011

ON EACH of the folders that Wests Tigers players carry with them this year are the words: Believe. Commit. Prepare. Win.

Blake Ayshford managed two of them within hours yesterday, declaring his belief that his side would win the premiership after securing his future with the club for the next four seasons.

The Tigers yesterday extended the centre's contract until the end of 2015\. Refreshingly, the 23-year-old, who had been contracted until the end of next year, said he was not interested in testing his worth on the open market, preferring to commit to his teammates.

''I didn't really want to go anywhere else, so I was happy to see what they had to offer,'' Ayshford said. ''I'm not one of the elite centres, where I'd get a lot of money somewhere else. Playing with my mates, I'm happy to play for any amount of money.

''I've been here since I was 18\. I've been training with the full-time boys since then. In our team we call each other brothers. We're pretty tight. It feels good to stay here and keep that bond going. It'd be hard to start at a new club and do it all over again.''

He also said the decision by coach Tim Sheens, who was courted by the team's opponents this Saturday night, Penrith, to commit to the club made his choice easier.

''I'm having fun here,'' he said. ''I think we've got a good team and I'm pretty sure we've got the team that can win the comp. There's no reason for me to leave.''

While the Tigers have been inconsistent so far this year, Ayshford said he firmly believed the club could win this year's premiership. Knowing the four words on the front of his and his teammates' game notes, the 100kg centre will settle for nothing less.

''If we do all those things, we know we can win,'' the Junior Kangaroo said. ''We've just got to do everything to win. That was our goal at the start of the year. There was nothing else we needed to talk about, just win, and be sore losers if we did lose. If we lose, we're filthy that we lost that game. It doesn't matter how well we've played. We need to play better to win. Belief's a big thing in the club. Coach is really trying to push that - 'if you don't believe you're going to win it, you're not going to'. We believe it.

''We know we can play footy. It's not hard to fix what we're doing.

''That's still the goal. I don't think we can settle for anything less. We fell one short last year by two points, and we don't want to feel like that again. That's still burning.''

The Tigers face the Panthers following one of their most disappointing performances of the season, a 29-18 defeat by South Sydney. Ayshford described the loss as a wake-up call. ''I think we went too easy into the game,'' he conceded.

''We didn't respect them enough. We've got two hard tests - Penrith have bounced back and then we've got the defending premiers [St George Illawarra]. One or two wins, and we can be up to fourth, and a loss could take us back down to the bottom three.''

That Is FANTASTIC News, So So Happy. Love your work Ayshford. GO TIGERS.

I love the idea that he was happy here and didn't want to test himself on the open market and jack up his price. Maybe Lui should subscribe to that theory and remain loyal to the team that nurtured him and supported him through the tough times.

GO AYSHFORD, LOYAL SERVANT TO THE MIGHTY TIGERS.

While he may not the most promising centre around, I think he is under-rated by many. Since he is only 23 with good experience behind him, his best years are still to come.
