Brenden Santi signs with Eels

Best of luck to Santi in his future. Shame we lost him. Would've loved to see him debut for the Tigers, a player with huge potential but not to be with us. Good luck champion.

Difficult decisions. We've only just seen an u/20s origin halfback in Miller, amidst a drought of good halfbacks, fizzle from the nrl within weeks, to start his career in super league. Speaks a lot to concerns about the untested in nrl and the relevance of feats like being schoolboys captain. Still can't get my head round that one.

Gee I hope this guys not the one that got away. He looked fantastic in the finals against Raiders?

Yep. We chose Lovett over him who has shown me nothing that he could step up to 1st grade. I'm afraid this one is going to bite us on the ass big time

As much as I rate Santi and would love nothing more to have him continue his career at the Tigers, this 'get out' clause is simply ridiculous and is not something the young kids should get caught up in.

He has made his decision, and we should not encourage this type of stuff with the kids.

Rubbish. People are free to contract how they seem fit. Parra accepted it and he is entitled to exercise if he wants to. End if story.

Yeah, far call… This is the way it is today.

Hopefully Payten introduces them to steroids in the off season, and once there Mad Monday is over, he should take them home and show them how to beat up woman.

They will be the complete footballer then :unamused:

Thats ridiculous Watto. Comparing exercising a contractual right to beating up your wife.

Footballers beating on wives is nothing new. It simply wasnt reported prior to the last 10 years.

Rory Brien was making those stats and better at Parramatta, they thought of him as the next Hindmarsh. Where is he now? A player can be the Billy Slater of Holden Cup and may not step up to first grade. If memory serves me right, Lovett and Santi both did not handle the step up to NSW cup well. Andrew Fafita was playing well at Tigers in first grade but wasn't as good as he is now. Ben Murdoch Masila will be better than Fafita.

I must admit,that is a huge loss.

He is by far our best pig….his offensive game improved out of sight this year.

Really dissappointed about this one,

Big statement saying BMM will be better than Fafita, I agree he had a decent end to the year but I'd hardly say he set the world on fire. I hope BMM responds to potter like Fafita has obviously responded to Flanagan.

I know we cant keep them all but if given the choice between Lovett for 100k or Santi for 150k i would go for Santi everytime. Both are workaholics, but Santi has a much bigger impact in attack and has a lot more X factor about him. Lovett really hasn't done a tihng all season except tackle. And while you need those guys that make lots of tackles and tighten the ruck they have to offer something in attack.

Highly unethical and implausible, but i'd swap santi and offer the eels lovett if we could! No room for both players, but of the two Santi is much better.

Santi is a better player now but Lovett has a better possible upside moving forward.

I rate Figatusa as a far better future backrow prospect then either by the fair length of a straight though

That and there is a far superior player to either in both the Magpies and Balmain SG Ball squads of this season

I reckon he has capabilities to be a Anthony watwough type player.. he reminded me of him yesterday. However watching kebra park game I think We have heaps of back rowers coming through. Probably why we let him go.
