Hope you are right Fox.
The appointments of Scando and Buckets brings out the sceptic. I remember everyone doing backflips of excitement then as well….

When you are talking about our club you are wise to be sceptical.Far to often appointments have been made to appease certain factions.
If this appointment is on merit i will be satisfied,no more jobs for the boys

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that Brett Hodgson will be joining the club’s coaching staff for the coming two seasons.

Hodgson will join Wests Tigers as an NRL Assistant Coach and Intrust Super Premiership Head Coach for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

The 39 year old is currently Assistant Coach at the Widnes Vikings and will join Wests Tigers for the start of the 2018 pre-season.

Hodgson said he was looking forward to coming back to Wests Tigers in a coaching capacity.

“I’m extremely happy to be returning to Wests Tigers; the memories have been flooding back to me and I’m looking forward to getting started,” said Hodgson.

“Ivan and the staff have made many changes and I feel now is the perfect time to return as the club enters this new era.

“The playing roster for next year is one of the things that excited me the most about joining Wests Tigers,” he said. “I’ve been impressed with what Ivan is planning and his recruitment is very smart. Next year is shaping up to be something really special and I can’t wait to be a part of that.”

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said that he looked forward to working with Hodgson over the coming seasons.

“Brett is progressing really well as a Coach in the English Super League and I look forward to having him further his development back here at Wests Tigers and become an important member of our team,” said Cleary. “On top of that his playing record speaks for itself and it’s great to be able to bring a player who achieved so much here back to the club.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe welcomed Hodgson back to the club.

“Brett has achieved a lot both on and off the field and we’re thrilled to be able to welcome him back to Wests Tigers,” said Pascoe. “It’s great to be able bring a Life Member back into the club and I look forward to working with him over the coming seasons.”

Hodgson made his NRL debut for the Western Suburbs Magpies in 1997, playing 49 games for the side before joining the Parramatta Eels.

The fullback joined Wests Tigers in 2004 and played 102 NRL games, including being a part of the club’s 2005 Premiership winning team. Hodgson also represented New South Wales on six occasions.

Hodgson made the move to the English Super League in 2008, playing 51 games for the Huddersfield Giants and 75 for the Warrington Wolves before retiring at the end of 2013.

I'm happy with this as Brett was an all out never say die player who gave his all for us , he will rub this on to all his players under his coaching , sometimes this sort of thing can reap rewards , if he can get 1/4 of his team to put in like he did we are way in front compared to this year ,
Welcome home and grab your Bus Pass at the door , your one is marked in gold ,

Played with guts and heart Hodgo, welcome home Brett.
Good times ahead with this man around the place. Legend.

Great choice should show a highlights package of him to the team before each game to show what you can achieve when you have ago no matter how big you are.

When Ivan joined the club he stated that he wanted to completely change the coaching methodology from the NRL team right through to all junior team, as he noticed that there was deficiencies with coaching right through the organisation.
Appointing Brett is just the start of developing a style that Ivan wants to implement.

So true. The toughest player to pull on the Wests Tigers jersey even though he had to run around in the shower to get wet.

Always admired Hodgson's toughness and found him to be as big a champion off the field as well.
Sponsors loved the guy, I hope he makes a success of coaching.

One of my favourites and a really good guy. Understands the club and has served his apprenticeship in the ESL.
I think he will help Cleary set a real good culture at WT. Both very good personalities who are calm under pressure. Bit if a change from Taylor and Stringer.

Loved Hodgo as a player & can remember his farewell speech at Campbelltown after his last game with us - where he promised to come back here one day to be part of the coaching set up.
Now, if he just arrange to bring back some Pommy champions as part of his package….
