Bullish Sheens a worry

I was confident about this game however having seen the guru talking to the media today less so. Sheens was harping on a few weeks ago about not being intimidated by NQ and how they always keep Bowen quiet. Then he was talking about not being scared of Souths. Now he is babbling on about the Dogs having plenty of cracks in the armour and Barber not being superman. Giving the media short, bullish answers. Tough talk from a man with an underachieving team not certain to make the finals.

Although Sheens is very stubborn. It's a bit like his selections. He could select Farah at halfback ten times and if they got 1 win out of 10 in the last game he would say "I told you so" and how everyone else knows nothing. For a bloke with an average record over the past 6 or 7 years he doesn't mind chest beating when it suits him.

I prefer the last couple of weeks when he down plays the side and keeps them on their toes going over own own sides deficencies. Im not sure you need to give teams with 11 in a row any bulletin board material. Don't be surprised if Barber scores a hat trick now.
 
What he says, and what eventuates have little to do with each other imo.
He's getting in today, the media should be all over belmore tomorrow looking for Dessies reply, which no doubt will be him wanting to fly under the radar, he'll talk us up.
Good to see the confidence…..I actually am starting to feel it too
 
I dont see what anything he said today that was false, what did you want him to say? "The dogs are the perfect team and we are no chance of beating them"
 
In this instance I don't think Sheens is the problem. He's chosen arguably the strongest side the Tigers have available. It's more about the mindset of the players tomorrow night and how they perform as a unit against the best side in the comp at the moment. Even if we don't win, I'd like to see further improvement in the defence, and overall attitude which looks to be improving at the moment.
 
Ha! Yeah, comes out and says, "Look boys, our team are no chance. Preserving the boys, don't want injuries, so we are forfeiting"
 
exactly Willow… The time for talking will be over by midday tomorrow and this game will be won on the paddock. Sheens will have little to no bearing on this game, as it will be all about the players turning up with right attitude to play the seasons bench mark.

The build up to tomorrow night reminds me alot of our approach to when we played St George over the past 3 years. If we turn up and put their big men on their bums, we have the strike power to finish this game in front on the scoreboard.

Time to stand up Tigers...
 
It's good to have a little confidence, he isn't over do it with cockiness and that keeps the players humble in their heads as well.

we very seldom win when their is a week of media hype leading into the game. We seem to usually go well when we are able to fly under the radar but when you see Benji's mug on the tele every night and on the back page than you hear and see quotes from Teflon you start to worry.

If you believe what you read this is the clash of the season between two sides in red hot form in reality its a clash between the form team of the comp up against a team that has struggled to get out of first gear all year

Sheens should have known this was a good time for a media blackout but instead its been a circus all week. Big marka is about the only one who has not been quoted and thats because he is still coming to terms with english!!!!!!!

It's a clash between the form team and (let's hope they turn up) the best team.
 
I have no problems in coaches talking up their teams - they should do that, my concern is that teams don't deliver or live up to the expectations.

I think he is throwing a challenge out to his own team, they are going to have to aim up now, as the doggies are going to come out breathing fire, if we can withstand the first twenty, we may be in with a chance, but our defence is THE big worry.
 
I like it. He's just trying to ensure his players are confident, which from all reports they are. Its a daunting task taking on the competition leaders on an 11 game winning streak. The players need to believe they can beat them and Sheens is showing faith in them.
Plenty of reasons to be confident - we are a much stronger side compared to last time we played them and in better form.
Whilst sheens is talking the Tigers up, he also be sure to emphasise how important our execution is. Instilling confidence and belief is one of the more important responsibilities as a coach. Now its up to the players.
 
I closely watch individual players though out games and noticed a few are defiantly coming into form… A win against the dogs would be an upset but am quietly confidant of a good showing.I believe it's beater to be positive about your opposition than the alternative...the light on bench is my concern!

When he started at tiges was at a fan day , we were crap and playing panthers that week they were going great , i asked him we guna win this week HE said "u bet we will ". Cant remember how we went but just impressed me that he didnt even flinch to think and say "we will do ok " . Players need a coach who is bullish and gives confidence .
Look now who would u want to go into battle with as a leader Howard or Gillard ??
 
Great to be positive and have self belief but keep it in house. You need to have all your focus on the game rather than be distracted by the media circus. Probably would have been a good time for the trip to Kiama, one media session to fulfill your obligations to the NRL, than bunker down for the week.

Anyway after all whats been said if we are not in this contest for the whole 80 minutes its going to be a major let down for the players and they may struggle to get them self back up 2012\. Anyway Teflon will have all the answers in his kit bag
