Campbelltown Club Supporters…

I have seen passing comments made by people on here and on Twitter that people of Campbelltown and Macarthur have given on Wests Tigers.

We have only averaged a horrible 9,698 with three games played in 2013.

On Monday Night in Round 20, we celebrate two milestones, Robbie Farah's 200th game and Liam Fulton's 150th. Even with the milestones we will be lucky to get over 11,000.

My question to this forum. Why have the people of Campbelltown given up on the club and failed to turn up for games?

Last time we had a crowd over 15K was in 2011.

Campbelltown hasn't been full since 2005 – Which is no surprise. But at least at Leichhardt this year there has been an "excuse" with it pouring rain twice.

Campbelltown has been cold sure, but even on Sunday afternoon we had poor support. This bandwagon rubbish needs to stop.

So youre saying only people from Campbelltown go to Campbelltown games?

No I'm not saying that. I was simply a question. There are some who won't travel to Campbelltown. But you do see the regular faces at all games, home or away

Well I guess being further away would be a turn off. For both leichardt/balmain supporters as well as all the others in the North of sydney, northern beaches, eastern suburbs. I mean, it's not Wests Tigers heartland but still.

But you focussed on ''the people of campbelltown" in your OP.

Why have the people of Campbelltown given up on the club and failed to turn up for games?

Now there are some who wont travel.

Make up your mind.

Team not performing well
Game times not being favourable for a good crowd
Campbelltown fans are also sick of seeing the Tigers play the same opposition
Ticket prices

I'd suggest that any combination of the above is why fans aren't turning up.

I'm expecting a low crowd for this game.
Despite the milestones the team is still not performing well, Manly fans rarely travel.

Throw in another milestone, Benji Marshall's last game at Campbelltown. The ground he made his debut at 10 years and 2 days prior.

It's not really our team. They play most games in the inner city, with a handful played at Campbelltown. It's like two visiting teams playing each other. Why can't Campbelltown get at least half the games? The Dragons still play half of their matches at Wollongong.

Couldn't agree more …. How can it feel like the local team ?

Well we play the same out of town teams there pretty much every year. The public would like to see a different opposition. When was the last time the Bulldogs or Souths played there?

Cost is pretty reasonable but an inconsistent playing performance the last few years and some non-favourable kick-off times are other factors.

I go to every Campbelltown game with my dad and brother I'm disappointed in the crowd numbers too but the club not winning on the field doesn't help I think people only come if we are winning and tix are cheap, but not everyone in Ctown goes for the tigers I work with 600 people and tigers fans don't out way any teams fans but there is a few of us as well as a lot of doggies and parra fans

I don't subscribe to this rubbish of the poor people of Cambo have been abandoned. Yes i think the club needs to put a hell of a lot more effort into the area, but whenever they get a poor crowed you get people who hate the club cos of the Magpies getting stiff treatment and they try and use that as proof that the Cambo locals have turned their back on the team, As i've said all along, it isn't just C-town locals who attend games there and vice-verca with LO. Its the responsibility of WT's fans everywhere to get off their backside and get out to games instead of passing blame on to everyone else. To me its a devisive argument that separates the supporter base. Anyway Leichhardt's crowds have been down to this yr, which has shut up a lot of people who like to put the boot in to Ctown's crowds. The main thing is, supporters want a winning football team and if the team isn't winning crowd figures will be down, Its not rocket science, its a common trend throughout sport.

Mate, everyone complains about the games played at LO and CS not drawing crowds due to the teams they play, that is correct!

Brisbane penrith Canberra and manly at ctown this year,
Brisbane won't travel
Canberra 500-1000 fans
Manly wont travel
Penrith was round 2 when penrith fans thought that they would be wooden spooners,
What do people expect?

Of bulldogs or st George or souths etc, were there they would bring at least 5000 of there own supporterS easy,

I understand why the bigger teams are played at the bigger grounds, but you can't expect the huge crowds, without a block buster game.

Exactly..The Gypsy Tigers… they train at Concord and play at 3 different grounds.
Just pick a ground..any ground...I don't care.

Pending the state government's long term support of LO Perhaps one long term alternative is:

5 x CSS games (ask nrl to avoid mon nights)
5 x SFS or perhaps ANZ games
2 x LO games (request nrl for sunday day only)

And what about the Balmain sector of the supporters? If this was in reverse there'd be an uproar from the Magpies sector.
There's a large supporter base up on the Central Coast, I'm one, and I will not drive an almost 6 hour round trip for five home games in Campbelltown. That will be the end of my membership unfortunately.
