Campbelltown Council Stadium submission

Would be nice if that would get off the ground. They should aim to builder a 45,000 seater though. Might be able to draft themselves into the bracket of major stadia that can host the finals games.

I'd have no problems team basing themselves there with state of the art facilities.

I still don't agree with any public money being spent on any stadium construction or upgrade.

Far more pressing fiscal concerns

I agree, but if they are going to do it, it may as well benefit us.

Still think if the state government build a new stadium it will be either in Parramatta or Liverpool.

The reality is that the WSW will be the major summer tenant and have a large say. Liverpool has a lot going for it as it is soccer heartland very close to Fairfield were strong soccer clubs remain and that the Tigers and Dogs would be inclined to play there (giving the new stadium 3 tenants over 2 at Parramatta (WSW and Eels, no other NRL side wants to play there).

Ok so we should just let our stadiums crumble and play first grade at ringrose park come around 2019 :crazy :crazy .Very odd comment on a Wests tigers football forum page.Did you think this was a tree huggers united forum page.

Can't see the Tigers or Dogs wanting to play out of Parra stadium. Plus Parra works will as a 20,000 seater for Parra and the WSW. Why change it. Not every game is going to be a blockbuster. In the future the NRL will still need these types of ovals with good transport.
Homebush works well for 40,000 plus. I was there for the Super Rugby final (62,000) and it was great. Even right up the top in the cheap seats. Only negative was the watered down beers for $8.
I think going forward the team should have a state of the art training facility at Cambelltown and be based there. Hopefully this isn't a turn off for all the good juniors who come out of the Balmain district. If they have to relay on parents driving them an for an hour an a half each way to for training we will lose a few to Souths/ Easts/ Parra or the Dogs. I guess if there was an easy answer we would already be doing it. This is the problem of having such a big area to cover.

When there's other key sectors of the public service (health, infrastructure, education,) that require more money and the government is pissing millions away on redeveloping a stadium that sees 4-6 games of Rugby League a year (I still couldn't justify it if all our games were played at CSS,) then yes it is a waste.

It was a presentation by Campbelltown City Council that based on population projections and the location of current stadiums, Campbelltown or Penrith actually make sense.

Whilst one can admire the altruism of some posting on this thread, the costs of building a new stadium would easily be exceeded by the benefits.

There already are 4-5 perfectly good NRL stadiums in a 50 km radius. Id be very pissed off if millions were spent on building a stadium for a team with not even 10k members.

WSW is happy with parramatta.

If the stadium were to be built, we wouldn't be the only ones to use it. WSW, GWS and probably even the Dogs would play games out of there as well.

Once we are getting over 20,000 people at Cambo then build on a new stadium.
Until then… It's just a waste of money.

If you build it, they will come

And what if they won't?

There is an 80k stadium literally a 40 minute train ride from Campbeltown. There is another 20k or so in parramatta. There is absolutely no need for another one.
