Its easy. Play for 5 years, retire 'medically unfit' as per recent trend.

The club still pays the remainder of the contract via outside sources so player is happy, but that money is not part of the salary cap.

Tell me if im wrong…...

You are wrong

Explain. I dont understand.

For starters, he is 23, he wont be retiring at 28\. The only way he can access the final years of his contract and not play is if he is medically retired by an independent doctor. The contract is then paid out by an insurance company.

As I understand it, Woods and Teddy are holding off to give the Dogs a chance to put together formal offers. If that's the case, why in the hell is the Wests Tigers allowing this to happen?? They are helping the Bulldogs steal our players. Our offers have been on the table for long enough. If it were me, I'd give them by 12pm today to sign those contracts. At 12:01pm I would pull the offers if they aren't signed. It will (A) Make life hard for the Bulldogs and (B) Let us know what direction to head.

I hate this sitting around and waiting.

This. In business sometimes you have to "call their bluff" - risky but so is life

And it's only at a certain % as well. Like around 35%

Thanks guys. Im sure there are ways to manipulate that, but makes sense.

Appreciate the education.

No worrries mate if that was the case then Clubs would just offer all their guns "life time contracts"

Everyone has had enough of this. The club needs to table a final offer with a short deadline. they either take or not and we move on

And guess what?
They will both ask for an immediate release…and you can guess the rest ... we will grant it!!!!

No problem, the NRL salary cap and player contracts are actually quite complex with many factors. Balancing the cap really become a giant jigsaw puzzle for teams, it really isn't as simple as having 7 million to spend and then spending that on players. With the current CBA being negotiated it appears that it will only become more complex.

FWIW on NRL Tonight Hasler was asked about Tedesco and Woods and he said something along the lines of "we haven't placed any offers or spoken".

The Dogs have their tail in a twist .. do they go after Keiran Foran or do they go after the twin pack of Woodsy and Tedesco ?? For us we really need to look for a new 5/8 to steer us around for the next few season .. has to be Johnson, Reynolds or Widdop to help Brooks.

Players either want to play for a club or they don't…...if they don't..... then we don't need them, they are just a waste of space and we could be focusing on those that have a bit of passion for the club. This circus has gone on for 2 years now....its gotta stop, I don't see how it is not a distraction to playing good footy.

As Cleary says......."your either on the bus or your not"......

Exactly! And now Woods and Tedesco have to decide if they're getting on or not. I'm hoping there is a deadline in place immediately after the Eels game.
