Canterbury Cup Team Announcement: Round 2

Good to hear first graders are pushing their case. Good headache to have. Would be nice for Benji to go to the next level in an effort to keep Grub out.

He has size which gives him an advantage over Taylor. It's hard to make a call between picking Twal or Eiso as well.

A great player to have as cover for Taylor and Twal. He struggled with a full year of firsts last season but if he's to play 50% of the season as injury replacement (or on great form) then he'll do fantastic I reckon.

**Josh Reynolds has starred for Wests Tigers' Canterbury Cup side on Sunday, helping Western Suburbs to a commanding 48-10 win over the New Zealand Warriors at Campbelltown Stadium.**

Playing his first game off the season after sitting out as 18th Man in Round 1, Reynolds was at the heart of everything for the Magpies with a hand in several tries to help take his side to the top of the Canterbury Cup ladder after Round 2.

A surprise star through the pre-season trials and Round 1, Bilal Maarbani continued his good form to start the year with a first half double, while Dylan Smith and Joseph Ratuvakacereivalu also shone for the Magpies en route to a comfortable win.

Western Suburbs will look to make it three wins from three next Sunday when they take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

*Full match report to come.*

**Western Suburbs 48 (Maarbani 2, Heleta 2, Reynolds 2, Ratuvakacereivalu, McIntyre, Robson tries; Gamble 6/9 goals) def. New Zealand Warriors 10 (Herbert, Tu tries; Harris-Tavita 1/2 goals) at Campbelltown Sports Stadium**

What about the long ball from Reynolds!

There were some Warriors there not to keen on getting in front of Joseph Ratuvakacereivalu. Anyone got info on him? Age, prospects on making the jump to first grade?

One thing which is abundantly clear with Reynolds is the energy in which he plays - his second try which was a kick for himself was pure energy and will to get there first - that will serve Josh and FG well when he eventually gets his chance.

Havent had a chance to watch the game yet. How did Gamble go at centre.

Seems he will be shuffled from there pretty soon too, once Momirovski starts.

Was good but so was everyone really…Warriors had nothing..

Very strong in defence made some good decisions that shut down some chances

Thanks.

Will be interesting to watch going forward. Id be shocked to see both Gamble and Reynolds here come the end of the season. Surely one goes looking for a new club.

Clark had his best game for us. Solid, nothing spectacular, they kicked to his side of the field after every try so that helped get his numbers up.

Ratu really played well. Ripped in like a better version of Gavet. If he can keep that up he'll see some first grade eventually. He had some good games last year but also went missing in others. Consistency could get him an nrl contract for next year.

Gamble was getting really upset on the field towards the end of the match as he barely touched the ball all game. We would have an overlap on his flank only for Aupouri (who had a pretty average game) to run it himself or bring a second rower to cut infield. Made a few decent dummy half scoots but i don't think he was passed the ball once all game. Defensively solid but rarely tested.

Robson should definitely be captain of this team, he's the heart and soul and always one of the best players on the field.

As mentioned Reynolds and Huth were excellent, as was Smith who chimed in some great back line moves to catch and pass to put the winger over. Bilal was heavily involved on one wing.

McIntyre had one of his better games, making some strong runs and showing good perseverance toeing through a kick twice to score.

The team played well and should only get stronger as more NRL players drop down.
