There would never be a better case to make than this one, since the decision was made after the game was finished. Mistakes happen during a game, fine, but the game was over and the result reversed.

The moment Holmes stepped over the line to kick off, the game was over. There were so many problems. Klein's instant decision, made without due consideration, the offside kick off, allowing a Cowboys challenge without a stop in play, the denial of Tigers to challenge, and Phelps very obviously running into a WT player and theatrically falling over.

Now, without Jacko, we look like specials for a wooden spoon we don't (quite) deserve.

Very disappointed. This should have gone to court IMO. It would also put the NRL on notice to fix its officiating of weaker clubs. One week holiday for Klein after arguably the worst decision in NRL history was a pathetic response.

Don’t expect the weak clowns running our club to do anything other than shine V’Landys shoes. They are just happy to collect their pay like most of our players.

Some people should look up the definition of 'ambiguous' which the NRL have admitted the (C) challenge rules have.

As a head of a large legal firm he certainly had the nrl quaking in their boots.
I'm guessing he's probably better at marketing than the law.

Unless anyone actually knows Lee's capacity as a lawyer, from personal experience or as being a lawyer yourself, I find it rather pointless to speculate how accomplished a legal practitioner Lee may actually be.

Don't forget Tigers engaged special counsel because Lee H himself didn't actually represent Tigers in this instance (due to conflict?)

We all know we were robbed. We all know they were wrong. Trouble is while we think it's always us, it, in fact, happens to other teams as well.

We would never have won a legal case. All the NRL had to do was to state that mistakes happen nd they admitted the decision was incorrect.
Even if we had, the fallout would have been quite negative the club. A number of mates I talked to said yes the decision was wrong but it would be stupid to take it to court. It would also open a Pandora's box of never-ending legal challenges every time a club felt it was on the wrong end of a decision.

The coaches will be drilling teams to put up bomb and run into some opposition players back and fall over, to enable the team to receive an escort penalty.

I Originally was for the captains challenge before it was brought into the game.

but after that happened after full time, and it is being defended by certain people.

Like any loophole, the NRL will probably move to shut it down quickly as possible. They've already publicly committed to ironing out the captain's challenge regulation in the offseason.

I expect they will remove the interpretation that they accepted in the Cowboys game, that teams can challenge at any termination in play. I expect they will revise the rule's language to only permit challenges against actual refereeing interventions, i.e. reduce the scope of when a CC can be introduced.

For example, had the Raiders been aware they could challenge the last play of a match, they could have challenged the Dragons game of a few weeks ago when Ben Hunt was definitely offside and prevented Raiders from taking a shot at field goal. In that case, no challenge was issued because, by common interpretation, the ref did not make an intervention.

If there were a spate of kickoff obstruction attempts, the refs would probably start ignoring them and HQ would probably send notices to all clubs about a crackdown on the tactic.

That leaves weird outcomes and poor reffing decisions, which cannot be categorically erased or prevented.
