Central Coast Bears

Need some bigger crowds at blue tongue if the gosford bears are ever gonna eventuate. I think the good crowds in WA may have pushed back a central coast team a bit.

To be fair the weather for most of the Coast games has been pretty dismal. Our game was miserable and it's been even worse for some of the other games. The Mariners are a better indicator - I've got no doubt a CC team would draw decent crowds. Whether there are better candidates for expansion is the question. Perth seems a good fit for a new team so unless someone moves or dies there would no doubt be a 18th team,

Agreed radiowave! If the CC can support a soccer team, the can certainly support a league team. And imagine if played one or two games a year at north Sydney oval… I love that place

Its a shame North Sydney Oval has been lost to the game. Best looking ground in Sydney, if not Australia

They still play nsw cup there.. It is the rabbits home ground, (feeder club). Unless that has changed this year?

Brisbane would be the first option for expansion, followed by either Central Coast or Perth… All 3 would be successful in my eyes after approx 10 years!

Maybe we should kick out the Warriors and bring all 3 in?

Nope, been there a couple of times.

Nice ground, if it could be expanded to 20k it would make for an amazing venue. Logistically might be a bit hard though. Not the best infrstructure around for 20000 people to rock up (next to Nsydney CBD).

I think perth is the NRL's best bet right now. Was looking at supercoach numbers for AFL, they have like half as many from WA as VICTORIA. jeez, we need to tap into that. We should have a couple of years ago but better late than never.

Not sure, but im talking NRL. level.

Bears were a massive loss to the game. I don't care if we have 12 clubs in Sydney. A club with so much history like the Bears should always have preference over basket case clubs like NQ and the Gold Coast. Rugby league has been doing a wonderful job of shooting itself in the foot the last 15 years.

Yeah, lets just keep Sydney as the Centre of the universe.

My unique view is that Sydney should have less teams and ultimately the game should go to areas to properly expand. I like how the AFL relocates or merge teams who have a history and they don't want to completely lose that.

South melbourne to Sydney Swans with a healthy and loyal following still in South Melbourne. Fitzroy Lions and Brisbane Bears now the Brisbane Lions with a strong membership base in Melbourne. Footscray and that other team becoming becoming Western Bulldogs.

The AFL always show strong leadership, now I hope the new commission do the same.

My preference is natural attrition. Increase the salary cap enough to make the strong stronger and the weak weaker. Then the ARLC can relocate the weaker teams with less resistance.

We don't want anymore than one new team on the eastern seaboard and that is a second team in Brisbane - even the AFL know the wisdom of having 2 teams in each of the major cities.

Why not move the bears to Perth? Perth bears or North Sydney….what are the perth team called?

Anyway, it would target a MASSIVE catchment over well over 2million i think. 1+ in perth and ~1 across the north shore. All the way from chatswood, northsydney and over to mosman. Probably a bit into frenches forest and closer to gordon too.

Then split the home games like we do i guess.... But without the allianz/anz crap.

Yeah GWS & GC have been brilliant what great 'wisdom'. Port Power are also flat broke. As for the Swans and Lions, well they have been gifted premierships via salary cap concessions and draft picks yet still no-one outside the heartlands of AFL can name or recognise any of their players. Expansion is fine if done correctly. You really think the Gold Coast and Cowboys add more than the Bears?. Cowboys are lucky to get 10 thousand to a game and attract zero interest anywhere else. How many times are the GC gone broke and been rebranded. 4 times?

Wow, 2 new teams in GWS and GC not going well? Surprise, surprise. You're a hard marker.

As for the Bears, they were perrenial cellar dwellers for years and years and only did any good for the last few years in the comp. yeah, I think cowboys and GC do offer more. I don't believe your crowd figures for the cowboys either
