We can do better and deserve better ...but lets wait see as u suggest
Big name players like Benji and Mal dont always translate into smart coaches
If Benji had a proper apprenticeship I think he’d be one of the best coaches in the game. Unfortunately he didn’t and probably won’t unless Bennett or Bellamy are willing to take him on as an assistant should we decide to go elsewhere for a coach.

Harry is an astute businessman. He would want people he trusts in position of authority and accountability.
It's an old old story. I am told at one point he was considering whether he would buy Balmain, the agreement would have been that if he did buy them everything would be done 100% his way and 100% his people in charge.

He was told they wouldn't sell on those terms.

It's not 100% correct to say Benji hasn't had an apprenticeship. He had 1.5 years under Sheens, which we can all joke about but its not nothing. Benji was not our first choice coach either. 2 full seasons under your belt should finish the apprenticeship debate. It's a moot point after that. It's a baptism of fire.

It's too early to tell about him as a Coach. However, If we seriously collapse for the remainder of this season It would take a lot to convince me that Benji should stay on. There is too much talent and experience in this side now for it to be a joke and still fumbling around trying to discover how to win games. It's too early to tell, but not for too much longer.

There are not many clubs that would get shafted by a junior player and his agent the way we just did and Benji has to contend with that. Richo does too. Richo did wonders at Souths but he didn't have John Sutton pinched out from under his nose. (He lost Sandow tho..). The things you need to contend with as coach of this club, you can't learn as a junior coach or up and coming exec.

Good point. Is Benji formally educating himself now?
When Sheens left Cowboys, his decision to enroll in a sports psychology course certainly paid off imo. Experience is a good teacher, but starting off with actions which produce desirable outcomes can get you there faster.

Depending how Benji finishes the year it’ll be discussed, though the cupboard is bare in terms of a quality replacement.

And only gets harder over the next few years candidate options.

Join a club to build from scratch or come to a club that has punted more coaches and is on struggle street & roster is crap or join another club that is in a better position roster wise than us.

Didn't you hear him say he was pretty much coaching the last 5 years of his career 😂😂😂
I don't think Assistant is in his make up, He just wouldn't have done it.
- Didn't last 1 year under his old coach as an assistant,
A bloke that was like a father figure to him.

Hunts a real worry though, like wishing the 4th minute the guy was gasping for air. It's all good to be a monster but when it's to the point you can't run it's a massive issue. He was being targeted at the start of the game at marker he had no lateral movement speed whatsoever, wonder seeing as he never got back on if he played injured.
A downgrade on Jordan Miller

Generally sacked coaches are replaced by sacked coaches - who then attempt to rebuild the squads that have failed - like they failed to do before but are somehow expected to be able to do that better elsewhere.
The most consistently successful clubs keep their coaches and turn over their players with systems that recruit retain and manage their rosters effectively.

Agreed.
He’s a worse player than those he supposedly replaced….and why wouldn’t he be? The bloke was giving the game away before we came knocking on his door with a fat contract.
He provided quality in short stints at the Sharks albeit in a much better pack. He has come here and not only has he not developed, he has regressed.

It was disappointing that he didn’t support his old coach more. I can’t ever remember seeing a hiring where the underlying tone of the hirer is so negative toward the new guy. 😂
