My issues are around how bad some functionality of the team still looks …particularly in attack … I would have thought this should be looking a lot better 2-3 year into the tenure ?
This side is entirely new.

And then the spine got reset with Latu and Luai being the likely future halves now.

People don't want to hear it, but we haven't even started a single game with our short/mid term spine yet and won't for another few weeks.

This 'rebuild' is in its first year, whether people want to admit it or not.

The fact we're stumbling and bumbling through combinations and too many kids and poor cohesion with an inexperienced head coach and upending our halves combo mid season and key injuries and suspensions and poor depth and several large holes still in the roster and STILL a couple of dropped balls away from being in the eight is more an indictment of the other teams around us.

How would Souths be feeling? The best coach of the modern era with the likes of Arrow, Latrell, Walker, Wighton, Keon, Graham, etc and they're below us.

I dont think Benji gets to start again …unfortunately for him … he might not want to hear that …but I suspect he gets told it this offseason… get them to mid table next year or you will be gone

I’m on board with keeping him another year …not that I love his coaching , but with his sway over the players , particularly Luai - Iis not something I want to mess with at this particular time

But I think they will need a big leap on the field to keep him past that …like 12 wins… and I say that more out of hope rather than confidence it happens …

I think he has had enough time by then and Richo will need to move in a different direction …. Just my opinion of course ..
Totally agree.

Exactly.

It's been a remarkable roster overhaul which includes huge cash in the bank for further recruits within 12 months.

Juniors and the other side shows around the club don't change overnight either. It's a long and patient road.

I will concede, there are coaching questions that need to be answered on a results basis only, but by comparison to previous years, we are far far far more competitive in games with a brand new team.

It goes to show how little respect people have for how long things actually take to fix. It's astounding to think, after all these years of playing musical chairs with coaches, that we think that is the gold standard to fix things for good at the club.

Remember, Demetriou got sacked last year for the performances Souths were putting up and now supercoach Bennett is 5 losses on the trot. There is absolutely no balance or perspective when discussing the team at all.

If everyone takes a step back and looks at today vs 12 months ago, hopefully they see us moving in the right direction. The path to success is windy, not linear. Being upset about 1 or 2 things along the way takes the focus off the bigger picture.
I think he was talking about the Dogs.

So people can’t work remotely effectively? He was very prominent in setting up their pathways

He was working for them not quite a year when the worst of Covid was going on … I think off the field ( including Pathways) Cameron George has been the main driver of their success …( hence why the All Blacks are knocking at his door)

Gus gets enough of a bum licking .. we don’t need to be making up stuff he doesn’t deserve

I wish that had NOT put a vision in my head as it is making me feel quite ill and i have just eaten lunch.

You could be right, still a lot can be achieved in a year. I’m sure he planted the seeds in ways for how to build from the ground up; no surprise they have improved their pathways in both the talent recruited but the amount of teams in comps.

Yes I know...you need to have read the previous poster for the full context saying that we have a reserve grade side compared to the Dogs.
No I did. Didn’t the other poster say the funny thing is that they (dogs) went out and filled their spare spots with reserve graders over the 23/24 season?

You've confused the issue for me. I tap out. Not even sure what point you were trying to make. Perhaps engage the other posters for your own clarity.

Interesting opinion piece on the Campbelltown Stadium ultimatum.

Could the recent push by Souths to move back to Allianz potentially open up a full time tenant spot at Stadium Australia, could that be the rush, looking to secure a deal with a stadium that is centralised and has the facilities to suit?

All good, your answering regarding both teams in your response. I think I saw your first statement as in reference to the Tigers recruitment.

Possibly but I've heard the hospitality facilities there are getting quite antiquated, part of the reason why the Rabbitohs want to move. Probably more that the club may get a good deal to use Commbank.

We are competitive. Can exert 15 minutes of pressure on opponents line and are defending better.

Unfortunately the structures and skills are still shit and a decent defensive team can score 14 points and beat us.
