If a totalitarian government says whales are rubbish creatures and must be destroyed…guess what happens? If a totalitarian ruler says "Adolf had it right all along" guess what happens? If these same law makers decree that only dark skinned people are required to work...guess what?
Its a moronic idea.
The world could be like you if it was greatly depopulated and we did not need or rely on others or even consider them much in our survival. If we all had our own 5 or 50 acres we could be quite independent and virtually no necessity for a central govt.. I know that is what you Deep- North Queenslanders despise, I have lived up there.
But the threat of the highly industrialised world would still hang over us - this is what is unfair. Streams we may rely on for fishing could be poisoned by mining. Air could be highly radio-active and we would not have a clue. Decent return (wages) or labour can be sabotaged by overpopulation needing employment.
Are you saying that having international rules is a moronic idea well there would be a lot of INTERNATIONAL problems left unsolved. For example pollution from China drifts over her neighbours who may want to keep virgin air. That is what happened to Chernobyl nuke accident. So we must have international treaties and stick by them.
If you want to prevent dictators internally (Oz or externally) from Germany then nations have to learn that Might is not Right - so we cannot just disengage from the world. There has to be an internationally body where leaders meet and verbally thrash things out - it could evolve to one world govt who knows. If that is what is required to prevent nuke holocausts etc. then so be it - until we de-weaponise.
