Chee Kam in the doghouse

I reckon Kev is a better centre and I'm not sure if he is a better backrower than anyone getting picked in first grade.

Kev is definitely not a better backrower, defensive centre or dummy half than Chee Kam and Chee Kam can play in all these positions in first grade where he is definitely needed.

Don't think we will see Michael in the team permanently until next season….where I think a reshuffle will see him fit into the centres with Naquima moving back to wing and Rankin to get a crack at Newcastle.

Who knows if Chee Kam is a better defensive centre. You'd have to give it some time. Slow centres get hammered in first grade a lot.

I'm more inclined to work on Naiqama's defence. I was speaking to a guy at work the other day and he said who knows if it's Naiqama and Nofo or is it also Moses.

I haven't seen enough to tell if he's better in defence, but he's much slower in attack. I'd stick with Naiqama.

I think we need a good defender more than we need an attacking player. Our defence is what is stopping us being a top 8 side. We have plenty of attacking options.

I don't outright disagree. There are plenty on here who promote full-blown attack, and many who think we need to grind-out games Melby-style. I favour a medium. I just don't think that Chee-Kam has shown enough so far to promote him.

In Kev's defence, he's one of our few players who know when to straighten the attack and take off.

Either way if Kev lets in points this week he has to go. We can't play hard and have defensive liabilities out wide. What are the coaches being paid for surely this can be corrected with training and game plans.

As frustrated as I get by our right side defence, I hope our coaches don't think this way. They should be thinking about the long term success of the team. I suspect they would be happy to let Naiqama go if they had an obviously superior alternative. I'm not sure it's McK.

If we are going to stick with Kev, he (and at least Nofo) need to spend almost all training practicing defence. Attack comes naturally to Kev and the only way he will become a better defender is if he drills it almost non-stop until it becomes second nature so he doesn't have to think about it… obviously he's not great at that 😕
