So I am starting to get the feeling its not going to work out for Cini here:

- He is now 21 (Definitely old enough)
- The last 6 weeks we pulled a centre out of the wilderness, and then in the meantime have been playing a stop gap centre (Chee Kam) who offers nothing in attack whatsoever. Both over him

You would have to think that if Maguire had him in his plans in the slightest, he would have used him in this period. I am not saying Maguire is wrong, but you would have to think if Madge saw Cini as a player of the future that we would of seen him over the last few weeks/this week

Very much doubt he will be in the top 30 next year..KOE contract at best..

Agree. I suspect the club is doing what it can to retain Logen Dillon and he'll be ahead of Cini next year.

Not a bad plan though tbh.
Dillon positives outweigh Cini's.

Former Aus schoolboy wasn't he?

People keep saying that identifying an recruiting top young talent will be our way of becoming successful.

Does not work well if the young talent doesn't develop, you lose them to other clubs or cannot keep them.

I am becoming increasingly convinced our leadership is either deluded, dumb or completely out of their depth.

We are a club lost at the moment.

While I don't disagree with your points about the club being lost, not every Australian schoolboy makes it in the NRL. We've had plenty of them that haven't made it, off the top of my head: Jacob Miller, Matt Groat, Brenden Santi etc.

Not everyone will make it but we need to hang on to the right ones.

Bahahaha ?‍♂️

Cini don’t look up to first grade standard for mine , but then again a lot of them that are being picked on a regular basis are in the same boat

he had a sensational debut, but the game afterwards brought him back down to earth. been very worried about his ability as a first grader long term. Dillon has far more upside, hopefully we can retain him.

I'd really like to see more of Cini in first grade, his debut was too good to ignore it just because of one poor game. Plenty of great players have had poor games.

I don't think it's a failing - all clubs have a stab at the annual schoolboys roster and many of the kids don't become established first graders. It's hard to know which kids will kick on.

Take a random year, say 2016 with 5 years opportunity to develop - some of them have made it, some are borderline, some disappeared.

In this topic I always repeat my story from my high school - we had a few good rugby league sides; 5 years ahead of me was Solo Haumono and we all knew he'd go on to play first grade, no doubt. But obviously he didn't really establish himself with a good career, despite the talent.

The year group behind him included this red-hot kid called David Tyler, who ended up I think at Bulldogs, but just never kicked on. Another guy in that group was Shane Rigon, and he wasn't earmarked as a special player, but he ground out a decent career of 200-odd first grade games for Roosters and Souths, plus a year for Bradford.
