City Team

Well done Brycey. He was the best forward on the park @ last years City/Country.. it was the first time he truly showed what he was capable of and he's carried that form into 2010\. I think he is a strong contender for a blues jersey, especially if he puts in a good performance in Port Macquarie.

dunno if anyone has posted it, but Lawrence has moved to 5/8 to replace anasta
reddy to the bench
fulton is 18th man

it's a bit of an up-yours to a few other guys who probably could have played 5/8th

Who is the city coach?

Who gave them the sweet cordial to mix with the metho they have been drinking?

i wonder what this means in regards to Lawrence's chances for origin
on one hand this would give him the chance to impress (albeit out of position), yet on the other it doesn't allow him time to show what he can do in his favorite position

i thought keating is playing five eight and reddy to bench?

Nothing against City v Country - I do watch it and I'm sure some of the players are happy to get a call up. But the teams seriously look like they've been chosen at random. Which probably wouldn't be a problem if the City v Country game wasn't billed as an Origin selection trial. Some of these blokes are never going to get near Origin - I hope, anyway.

CITY ORIGIN COACH HAPPY WITH WESTS TIGERS FRONT ROW

City Origin Coach John Cartwright says he will be looking for his Wests Tigers forwards to lay the platform for victory against Country Origin at Regional Stadium, Port Macquarie, on Friday, May 7.

Wests Tigers props Bryce Gibbs and Keith Galloway will pack down in the front row alongside team-mate and City Origin hooker and captain Robbie Farah. Wests Tigers centre Chris Lawrence will also pull on the City Origin jersey.

Galloway will represent City Origin for the first time. Lawrence, Farah and Gibbs have previously represented City Origin.

Forward Liam Fulton has been called up this afternoon to be the 18th man for City Origin.

“I was keen to get some established combinations in there, especially with some inexperienced half-backs for a lot of the plays that will be centered around Robbie,’’ Cartwright said.

“Keith and Bryce have been going really well. Bryce seems to be fitter than he has ever been and his form warranted selection as he has been leading the forwards well.

“Chris Lawrence is definitely a weapon. He is very robust and has great speed. He was going to play last year for City but did an ankle and couldn’t play.”

Wests Tigers and Australian coach Tim Sheens said he was thrilled to see a heavy representation in the City side.

“Although our form over the last couple of weeks has been a little down, I feel Bryce, Keith and Robbie have played well,’’ Sheens said.

“To have those three and Chris Lawrence in the City Origin side is a great representation for Wests Tigers.

“It won’t hurt them to play at that next level and be more confident the next time they play first grade.

“Keith was unlucky last year to miss out with a knee injury, as was Chris Lawrence. Robbie getting the captaincy is a great reward.”

Pretty sure that Keating is definately playing 5/8.. Would be silly to make Lawrence play there for the first time at rep level. I think Heighno wouldve made the City team but the Country side just has too many quality second rowers.

lawry and champion selected ahead of jennings in the centres is interesting, IMO lawry will go very close to a blues jersey this year,
