City v Country - Any tigers going to make it ?

I was stunned when I saw the side named this morning. Having said that, good luck to all the players selected and I hope they come back fit and healthy. Congrats to Lawrence on being selected as captain too.

Making rep sides is a reward for consistency effort and **potential**…

You'd think so, but then you have Ryan Matterson in the team, out of position no less, having played 129 minutes of first grade.

Missed this bit…?

I usually agree with a lot of your posts Geo but I don't agree with you on this one. You don't reward a player with a Rep jersey for potential. Rep jerseys are supposed to be earnt not just given to a player because he might potentially be a future star. Ryan Matterson and Lovett haven't even proven themselves as first graders yet let alone Rep players.

It must be a Freddie/Roosters thing…..

Congrats to our backrowers. I for one am happy for them and think it is a reward for any first grader to be recognised, irrespective of their experience or what people on the internet think about them.

I wonder, would people boo if Lovett scored a hat trick in the next tigers game :roll

Good luck to the players picked, but I am curious around who was actually available for city on the weekend

It's fine to disagree Mac…that's what forums are about and I see your point ..I think Lovett is much maligned on this forum...he gives his all every game.his form this year has been better than solid IMO...I don't feel he is an 80min player which he is being asked most weeks of him...hopefully the experience he gains from being apart of City/Country will improve him further...

As for Matterson ..yeah probably lucky to make it given his inexperience but I liked what I saw from him in the couple of games he played...Also not sure what other centres were made available for the game...

Wests Tigers have provided 7 Local Juniors to the various rep sides this weekend...I think that is something as a Club and fans should be proud of...which was the point of my OP...

Country all over City ATM…

Ryan Matterson takes an intercept quick spread and City score...6 All

Nofo went of early after accidental crusher but is fine thank God...should be right to return...Rowdy has been strong in D...running good lines in A...

Lovett just held up over the line...

Watching Cartwright is dissapointing because every time I watch him I see what Sirro was before supposed experts took all the fun from his game. Cartwright and Sironen were both equally skilled as juniors but one has been coached to use it the other coached to just do the boring stuff

Great D from City…Rowdy in the thick of it...

12-6 City lead 7min till HT..

Lovett in under sticks running a great line of Latu…

18-6 City lead at HT...

Lovett backs up some great work from Carty to put Peats under the sticks…

City 24-6...

Now Gray gets a triple....City 30-6...
