Just in case anyone didn't know, there is a lag of up to several decades between greenhouse gas emissions and effect on temperature. So no, this year won't be cold.

The record temperatures we've seen in recent years are the product of greenhouse gas emissions ten, twenty, thirty years ago.

Unfortunately, as we have (globally) continued to increase our emissions since then, further heating is locked in and unavoidable.

You weren’t on that ship that went north to measure the warming and got stuck in the ice? Are they still there? Maybe they can walk back.

Hi Col, a periodic reminder regarding you presenting your data to suggest climate change isn't happening? I've been waiting about two years now mate.

You're gonna need a little more than "climate change isn't happening because my fridge can still make ice cubes."

There are models that suggest it could take over a thousand years for climate change to reverse to what it was before large scale pollution started!

dirt track definitely and the outfits don't have any brakes @hobbo1

I have a genuine climate change question.

If coal power stations are pumping out soot and crap and creating a blanket in the atmosphere that causes warmer temperatures, why then are we going to electric cars where.....the power is generated by these coal power stations?

There isnt enough wind, solar or nuclear stations generating power to make a difference, so how does that make sense? Are we saying the black smoke billowing from these power stations is better than the combined exhaust fumes of cars and buses?

Electric cars produce less direct emissions than traditional cars. Basically the emissions created to produce the electricity for electric cars is less than the emissions produced by a traditional car.

Coal power stations arent pumping out soot and crap, they pump out CO2. That is the problem, not the soot.

Thank you. As a climate change dumbo, i never really understood the rationale. And i am a bit mystified as to why a small little country like ours needs to be so obsessed, when you compare with China, US, Indias pollution etc. But you have to start somewhere i guess.

I just dont see that seriously harming our economy by placing unfair and unreasonable restrictions on ourselves, in the context of comparitive size, is beneficial to anyone.
