Close to a team of internationals !!

Its the first time I can remember our side having this number of internationals.

With Benji Marshall and Blair repping the NZers, Ellis and Heighington the Poms and Farah, Lote, Big Red and Chris Lawrence the Oz side we have the majority of our run on side being internationals.

Not many sides in the comp can match that !!!

Carn't remember either the Magpies or Tigers old sides having had that strength before !

Hopefully that strength allows us to go a step further in 2012

Tigers in the mid to late 80's were similiar. May be wrong on some detail but:

Jack
Brasher
Hanley
Schofield
Freeman
Pearce
Sironen
Elias
Roach

Them's the ones off the top of my head but am sure there were more.

Hi fellow posters, this is my first post so I hope its accurate.

Back in 1989 Balmain had:
Jack
Andy Currier (was a pom, I don't know if he was an international or not though)
Freeman
Pearce
Sironen
McGuire
Elias
Roach

Brasher became an international in later years

Patience pays off for us supporters starting to gain some player kudos, results to follow :sign:

We need to learn how to win as favourites though to make it worth it.

Anytime the bookies reckon we should towel up a team we get beaten, or JUST squeak a victory - case in point - Sharkies in round 25 this year, the 17-16 point win against the knights where we should have put 20-30 on them, and we should have beat the doggies in BOTH games..

Thats how we will win the big one.

Woods & Lui are possible future origin reps also.
Along with Dwyer if he recovers.
Heard Ricky Stuart has his eyes on Ayshford too…..

Jacob Miller & BMM repped their countries also.
Interesting stuff.

Yeah we are at the top of the cycle I think and the pressure is well and truly on to win a comp.

I wonder how the odds will look come round one next year, surely we must be near favourites.

Lui may become an Origin rep in the future but I think it will be extremely doubtful if it is in a Tigers jersey

Now I may be really biased, but I believe our team is the best on paper. Other than those current internationals, don't forget we still have Ayshford, Ryan (had a great end to the year) aswell as Liam Fulton. Plus Woods & Groat up and coming stars, with Woods imo in the next few years, a starting prop for NSW..we have the potential to win the comp in the next 3 years, but do we have the consistency?

Few mistakes. Galloway and Fulton both played for city not country, and as far as I know Ayshford has not played city country. If he were to he would be eligable for City.

Didn't Utai and Simona get a call up for Fiji. Not sure whether they played? Anyone got any other info?
