Coach Benji 👑

Most coaches go through periods where teams don't perform. Bellamy Ciraldo Stewart and Maguire have all had bad runs this year with arguably better squads.
I'm not prepared to write Benji off as a coach based on his performance at this club because no coach in the last 15 years has been successful here - but we know that all live and die by their results and Benji will be no different.

Needs to get new assistants. Guys that will actually challenge his thoughts and tactics (or lack thereof). Does he need more money from HBG to actually get some quality around him? Or is it just his trust issues that make him keep giving jobs to his friends.
Where have the offloads gone? Where is the linespeed we had earlier in the year? Why is everything we do half a second slower than our opposition? Why do some of spine struggle to put passes in front of their runners instead of behind them? How could we possibly fail to find touch so early in the contest?
Attention to detail, it's sorely missing in this side and nothing will change until changes are made with and by the coaching staff.

Our lack of creativity in the Red zone is embarrassing. No structure, no bodies in motion. Our poor wingers must catch colds every week. If Benji stays then get assistant coaches around him that can work on attack and defence. WT are so far behind quality teams. Fans are sick of just making up the numbers each year and giving teams an improved for and against record.

It’s hard to defend Benj.. he hasn’t actually done anything coaching wise… unlike the other blokes you name (fellow newby Ciraldo excepted ) ..

Ita 99 percent likely he is back next year … Im more hope rather than expectation that things get a lot better with essentially the same squad and staff slated to return

Not comparing him to anyone just not writing him off given the success at any club has more to do with a coach alone - and this club has produced next to no success for 15 years for anyone associated with it.

Who are these magical assistants everyone keeps mentioning?

Shane Flanagan? 🤣
There’s really no quality coaches around that are available for either head coach or assistant. If the club did decide to move on from Benji, I don’t see anyone putting their hand up to wanting to coach us. If I was a coach that was available I’m staying away from us as I know I’m only here for a short time before they decide to replace me.

Never say never G95. That’s what he’s indicated, but à smart negotiator may be able to turn that around.
I know, I’m probably being hopelessly optimistic. but a big no fan and would just love to see it.
Love the optimism, but no way Ivan is gonna come back to the Tigers and I doubt anyone from our end will try and get him here anyway after what happened last time.

I honestly believe that we've mentally dropped the ball.
Flying high in the early season with the first 17, we coped with a few injury losses but when a big chunk of the firsts were sidelined and we relied on poor seconds replacements. The better players gave up the ghost, no longer trusting the player next to them. Big loss of confidence, and performance went with it.
For the most part now it looks like we are going through the motions. Players are still putting in, but the team has lost cohesion. A single dropped ball in the early season had the team rally around the player who made the error, not so much now.
For mine this is where the coaching staff have to rebuild cohesion. It's too late for this season but some decent wins to close this season, sets us up for next year.

it’s mostly on the players now to try and find a couple of wins to close out the season and salvage a bit of pride and reasons for optimism …

Last night it seemed very obvious that the issues have nothing to do with Benji or the coaching staff.

We just have a very slow team that's struggling in an era where speed is everything.

The Warriors are full of fast, athletic guys with great footwork.

Whereas we couldn't even break the line.

It's a sad state when a bloke like nearly 30 year old Bunty who couldn't get a run elsewhere was one of your best.

The sad part of all that is the going through the motions part was evident against the Dragons when the season really was on the line. They were completely out enthused and off the pace. How can you go through all that pre-season torture and give up so meekly when it really counted? Obviously the coaching staff couldn't get the players to respond and to me thats a big concern going forward.

I wonder why they seem to always start off the game so slowly ?

AD not finding touch from that penalty and then conceding the quick try.. Bunty having a brain explosion , getting binned and by the time he is back on its down 14-0 and a big mountain to climb for these blokes …

They need to examine the pre game routine and find out why they start the majority of games so passively ..
