Coach Benji 👑

Two teams in the comp that are playing well now are Roosters and Sharks. Common denominator here is that they have Rugby Union Coaches as assistants, in Michael Cheika and Frederic Michalak. Keeping our same assistant coaches will not improve our skill level, I know we’ve had heaps of injuries but replacements need better coaching. All over the park our defence is haphazard.
Set plays in attack are few and far between, we need to look further afield , I’m sick of seeing the same stuff dished up each week!!
Rant over!

There must be no slander of Benji Marshall. The mere fact he picks Alex Seyfarth every week is proof of his genius. Anyone saying anything bad about him simply has no clue. Without Seyfarth, we would be nothing. The entire club would be crumbling apart. Other coaches would have discarded the big red sin bin machine long ago, but not Benji. Benji sees his value - what he brings to the team, what he brings to rugby league.

A $5.3B broadcast deal was secured, with many thanks to the promotional work Seyfarth does. People see his hard hitting, no-nonsense play style and want to tune in every week. We get a crazy amount of articles written about us when you compare it to our on-field success. A club this low on the ladder should not have the amount of eyeballs on it as it does. Yet every year, everyone wants to talk about the Wests Tigers, and more importantly, Alex Seyfarth.

Benji should be made an immortal off the back of this.

This Benji coaching experiment has gone on long enough. He's been given enough chances to get us winning and failed . When does he take some accountability?

Brad Arthur only got the Eels firing by the end of his 4th season if I recall. If we pick up 6 - 8 more points this season it's a clear improvement on last season, esp with injuries. I think he's taking accountability by moving Luai on.

I don't think he's failing when you look at the club now from his first match as Head Coach.

We really havent improved much on.last year this far...yeah theres not much benji can do about injuries but our poor.depths on him.
Hopefully toops shuster and dunster help here...time will tell.
The teams in a.rut, they look depressed and.lacking energy Benji needs to get this back...needs them to.lift ...its been a steady decline thenlast few weeks and our style of play is garbage...its crucial we rectify this against the dogs.
The players. Love Benji eh?

Prove it

Yea, ah.
Correlation Does not equal Causation!

Now which team has a coach that played "rugby Union"?
Cmon, I can think of one. It's both a foundation club and a merger of two teams.

Ill say the common demoninator between Roosters and Sharks is Craig FitzGibbon. He would wressle any player on any day as assistant coach. His emphasis on gritty defense has improved both clubs.

I don’t really care how well he presents himself in press conferences or if he gets stuck into the journos. That doesn’t say anything about his coaching. Just shows he’s good at PR. He’s still not delivering where it matters.

I don’t want to start a code war but look at the way RU is played currently in this country….poor attack and terrible defence. We are already doing this. Bringing in rugby coaches will only further embed this nonsense.
I agree that the 05 connections need to go. Yes they won the comp, but they were far from a polished team that year….even shit at times. We need guys who proved themselves as players for multiple years at all levels and have coaching experience.
Who are they?….thats the key.

This club is going nowhere because there is no stability.
Confused identity, conflicted direction from those in power - a transition lounge for players and coaches some who buy in till they don't, others who come for the money care factor zero. And the few that still think they can make a difference get swallowed up in the failure and spat out.
I'm convinced more than ever nothing will change while the faceless ones with the power are in control - the rot is too entrenched.

u think HBG would pay/or we could afford a Cheika level salary for an assistant coach. the common theme i see is our coaching staff would struggle to get a NRL gig anywhere else...other than JM.

If HBG don’t want to stump up funds for assistant coaches then there is not much anyone can do , blokes like A Johns , C Cronk , B Slater , would be great for our club even if it was part time , 2 days per week even , players respond to other great players , I would 100% go after Cronk as he was part of the Melbourne team that killed it and was part of the Slater , Cronk , Smith tactics and plays they come up with , Bellamy allowed it cause they knew what was going to work , Johns and Cronk would def add to our attack and Cronk also would add to defence tactics , big Jared ex rooster for a chat with the engine room , pay the money , clean out Hodgo and Heighno ,

Cronk would never lower himself to have anything to do with a bottom of the ladder club.

Personally I like how far the Sri Lankan game has come after all these years to produce it's first fringe NRL first grader and god of state cup - that will serve us well in the Indian/Sri Lankan south-west growth corridor.

It won't be long before our first Chinese or Vietnamese player comes out of our growth area.
