Coach Benji 👑

Benji is in a mess of his own creation. Whatever he does will look like a reaction.

If he drops Luai and plays Douehi in the halves, he is pandering to AD.

If he drops Javon who he has touted as the future, he looks like he has backflipped amid pressure and last week was for nothing.

If he plays AD at lock or centre things look great. Come the offseason they will likely be be grounds to agitate for a release. Things will only get worse if his bad shoulder (which is being mentioned in sympathetic media) gives out.

He is probably also starting to have to juggle long term roster planning with the need to start winning games as the seat warms up under him.
Reserve grade or at the very least off the pine this week.

Surely he can’t start him.

Benji has a big job ahead for the rest of 2026 season
He must get wins along the way as if we don’t he will be n a world of media pain , AD this week will be a telling factor on Benji and his strength to do the right thing , back via reserve grade , play him off the bench and into 13 to replace Twally , or start him at 7 will Luai at 6 , we can’t afford to dump Luai as he simply to good and Jarvon is not close yet , the team may have a say if AD plays but if you leave it to the team it could cause a split in voting , that you don’t want , Latu and Madden won’t play so we are thin , we need a bounce back over the eels , we need all troops on deck and wanting blood for a win , we need to simply smash them hard right from the start , I would elect to kick off and jump on them right from the get go , turn them around , kick to the corners , kick some grabbers , go for 40/20 I would bomb them just non stop and they will break , if we don’t well I feel they will put 30 on us , Benji is in a tough spot , we need wins , team needs discipline, team needs leads hard leaders , people who are going to stand up

Yeah he is almost in a no win situation.
It is very possible that we could win this weekend and the articles will be attacking him.

If AD just plays on with no repercussions for refusing to play, how does Marshall pull anyone else up in future for poor behaviour? What kind of example does that set for the juniors coming through? Sounds crazy.
100%

Isaac wants to sabotage him, make no mistake.
That’s the way I see it too.
Benji has been his target for a couple of seasons and he’s been able to rattle the coach. There’s no other explanation for Benji not communicating with Adam regarding the positional change. It’s the Galvin 101 list of grievances revisiting with Benji being forced into reacting.
Shaun gets it, hence the limited information disclosed from the meeting.
If I had to guess what went on in the room that nobody wants to talk about lol..unlike earlier speculation that Doueihi wants out, or should be sacked immediately, Moses wants Doueihi to play 7 for the rest of the season and will apply more pressure to achieve that end.

Caught between a rock and hard place.
No easy fix and what ever happens there will be a negative consequence.
Douehi has friends in the squad and he has also developed a level of distrust among the playing group by not only not playing on the weekend, but outing them with accusations that may be true or not - that have come from him or his people
Benji has to make decisions that takes all that into account while also selecting the team that he thinks is best to beat Parra, but no guarantee that the players can rise above the off field issues.
They are meant to be professionals but let's face it most of them are man child's
Meanwhile Moses has coaching clients looking for a start somewhere
