Coach Benji 👑

Benji just can’t coach. He doesn’t have the tactical nous, attention to detail or the man management skills to a head coach. Worse still he doesn’t surround himself with experience or technical coaching ability only yes men who all played with him.

Richards, Heigno, Hodgeson, and McCarthy wouldn’t be employed at other NRL clubs. They’re only here because they’re mates with Benji. We’ve got the most amateur coaching set up in the NRL and it shows .

In all seriousness Benji would never have been employed as a head coach in any other NRL team. It’s insane that he spent a year as an assistant before becoming a head coach.

In 3 years there’s been no tactical improvements. If anything there’s been a regression.

God help us if he stays here until 2030. The club can’t afford to keep sacrificing results for Benji’s learning experience.

Hello Everyone;
Im not a Wests Tigers fan as such. More of an interested observer in the club, and its direction since 2000. And a fan of Benji - as a player. Best to wear the Tigers jersey in my opinion...I remember watching the 05 grand final and in the room was my mate Tim - Tigers supporter. Couldn't contain himself... 😂

Out of interest I've done a fair bit of my own research on the Wests Tigers club, the joint venture, its history.. 3 from 27 for finals appearances...To try and understand the joint but more what might be behind the chronic underachievement..

Benji has taken on an impossible task - in my view. Some will say that the dysfunction at board level, and football operations can be separated, but they cannot be separated. All the ills of the club start and finish at the board level, where the is no cohesive force that wants to pull the club towards a common goal

A large part of the reason for this is the way that Balmain has fallen by the wayside and now only holds a 10% stake in the Joint Venture... Its not a joint venture as such, its almost entirely owned by Wests..

Whilst this is the case, the club can, and will be a revolving door of head coaches, and nothing systemic will ever shift...

Have a good one
🙏

Wests Tigers haven’t been a joint venture or merger for 15 years. Wests Tigers is a wholly owned and managed subsidiary of the Western Suburbs Magpies.

The senior management of the club came into that position by way of an antiquated protection racket known as debentures. Senior management did not gain their positions on merit, they just played a system and now they hold us all to ransom.

It is an absolute travesty.

The big 3 left while Ivan was there and yes Madge had to deal with a mess. Neither could get us to finals.

Benji is the reason we have a half decent squad and I don’t see how any new coach will be set up for success given most of the squad are tied to Benji and the board are still a disaster.

I think it’s stupid to think another coach makes the problems go away regardless of what you think of Benji as a coach.
I’ve been saying since that fateful day back in 2022 that anyone who seriously thinks this club will succeed with Benji as coach is a dangerous moron. I’ve had many fights over the years with sycophantic clowns who have argued that Benji has the players ears, he has their respect, they signed for him, they play for him….blah blah blah. It’s all BS and I have been proven correct time after time after time.
Benji has got to be removed as coach. Shift him sideways on the same pay if that’s what makes people feel better. He is clearly in the wrong role.

Too many people getting caught up in words said publicly by BQM in the presser.

Do we think the club needed him roasting guys who are playing busted and embarrassing them more at this time.

Behind closed doors I’m sure he’s more honest.
There’s no way he is.
Mate our players couldn’t give a toss if they have a bad game. It doesn’t affect them in the slightest. They go back to the dressing room, make some TikTok’s and play some shitty music. They don’t care one bit. There’s no consequences.
If we had a Bellamy Type coach he’d have half the dressing room in tears.

I feel like some of us deserve an apology for the amount of times we have been shat on in the last couple off seasons cos we had the audacity to be honest and predict nothing was going to change. The amount of vitriol for saying something totally reasonable was way over the top. If the shoe was on the other foot, I feel like I’d have to man up and say I was wrong.

It really is , especially when you consider that the supporter base of the club is a fantastic and loyal supporter base and can still pull good crowds in spite of everything that has happened over the years.

I would love to see Benji lead the club out of the dark and back to success but I am not sure that he is operating in an environment that is conducive or supportive to that kind of success...How if theres a faction of the majority owners that want to blow up the joint venture and rebirth as Wests Magpies... Which by the way would be a bad idea. The tigers brand is a massive asset to the club

Unfortunately the fate of Balmain Tigers and the Rozelle leagues club debacle has really played into the current state of affairs..

Could something happen that pegs back Wests 90% ownership over WT... Not sure how else the JV could move into better territory..

🙏

Whose sock account is this? “Interested observer”….get out of here with this tired dribble that we’ve been discussing for over a decade.
🤣🤣🤣 you are not as perceptive as you might imagine.

Well, Balmain has no money or power, so that will never happen.

Potentially, something will eventually happen:

1. Wests will sell the whole club (very unlikely).
2. The debenture system will be terminated (highly unlikely).
3. There will be a deal struck that allows for Balmain to be split out of the group, privatised and play in the NSW Cup (unlikely).
4. The NRL will be forced to intervene after a full on fan revolt (most likely).

Yes, the Wests Magpies board do not get their positions on merit and like most I wish the debenture system was changed.

However the changes in the structure of the JV were due to the ineptitude of the Balmain side. Whether we would have been any better if the original JV structure didn’t change we will never know.

#4- and do what???? What do people want with this? If the NRL take back the licence, it presumably would be issued to a new team outside Sydney and will not be Tigers or Magpies for that matter. If people are that bloody minded and want #3, great we can have Tigers and Magpies playing in the KOE with no NRL, I don't mind that but where does Tigers get the $$$? They're already skint and Magpies have already helped them when they didn't have to after Elias and co shafted you. I would love #2 to happen and the NRL force Wests Ashfield and HBG to cease the debebture system forthwith. It's a cancer on our governance and operating system. #1 any sale would be very dependent on buyer wishes as to location and branding. I don't think any buyer would be wedded to Tigers brand, Leichhardt or Campbelltown i think there would be interest in Central Coast, Adelaide, NZ etc.

There’s no way Benji will get the flick. I think Benji’s contract is stacked with clauses and legalese forcing HBG to fork out what is probably a record severance payout in NRL history? Something around $3m plus.
Anyway, HBG have shown in the past that they want novices in jobs, so why payout Benji and recruit another Benji?
Just pay him out or offer another ,away from coaching. We just cannot keep doing the same things and expecting a different result. That is insanity and we as supporters cannot afford another season like the last 5 seasons. Callan park is closed, but may need to reopen for WT supporters. 15 years of torture. We can't afford any more.

Don't mean any disrespect to T May, but in my opinion having watched the games over the last couple of months, I think that T May is the cause of our poor attacking options in the red zone. I have given him the nickname "Slug" He backs into tackles, very slow play the ball and very slow to get into position.
The coaching staff surely see this, and if they don't, they need to resign and get someone else in to rectify this!
Spot on TTT. He thinks he is a baller player and lurks in the backline, especially in the red zone. I blame the week captains not telling him top piss off out of there. Obviously Benji has done nothing about it, showing his clueless ideas of attacking structure. May should just be running hard and straight as first receiver close to the line ( alla Pole yesterday). It's a simple game for simple people.

As soon as these so called players tied to Benji got long contract upgrades, they have downed tools as futures have been secured with no consequences for their form post extensions. They don't give a f..k about Benji otherwise would not be putting in these pathetic efforts.
