Coach Mick Potter to punt on Miller as halfback

It actually said Anasta was voted in….though I assume all members are voted in, maybe not at first but well its not really that important anyway.

There can be any number of reasons why hes there though....good luck to him.

Often the most quiet, unnasuming, in the b/ground type player can be the most popular and respected among his peers....very very different to a fans popularity poll

Leadership Groups are less about on-field governing (that's the Captains role) and more to do with mentoring and leading within the playing group off the field.

For all of you puzzled or emotional at the APPOINTMENT of Meaney as a member of the Leadership Group, go back and re-read the original article. He was VOTED as a member of the Leadership Group and therefore I assume voted by his fellow players.

A token gesture im sure. Unless its something for him to take back to NSW cup

Moltzen should get the same chances as everyone else to play first grade in 2013\. If he impresses in the trials I'm all for him being our 1\. Getting away from sheens and knowing that he has to compete for his spot may bring out the best in him. I have my severe doubts but still, I'm not discounting him just because of his previous deficiencies.

Good post, fergiefurr. I'm looking forward to seeing what all the players can do away from Sheens' directives and influence. Who knows, Moltz may actually turn out to be a fully committed and aggressive fullback, who plays with heart and attacks the high ball! Perhaps his timid and indecisive play was only a result of the confusing nature of Sheens' coaching. I'm sure a lot of the players didn't know if they were Arthur of Martha under Sheens at times. It's heartening to hear that Potter is actually thinking of starting the season, at least, with guys playing in their rightful positions, so maybe we will see Moltzen and co playing in a whole new light…or perhaps not lol.

Do you seriously think sheens encouraged moltzen not to catch high balls or had any influence on him not catch them. The answer is no. That was all moltzen. Sheens is copping way to much blame for last year. I'm happy with a fresh coach but gee wiz lets get real. The players were out on the field.

Of course not and trust me, no one was abusing moltzen more then me last year. However it was evident that he was never going to Get dropped so he had little motivation to go all out.

He would out in terrible heartless performances week in week out but be on the team sheet the next week. Then when he was injured Ryan would out in performances ten times better then him, but be back in the wing/center when moltzen was fit again.

With increased competition I'm hoping we will see some steel in his game. If he improves then I see no reason why he shouldnt be considered for first grade

It's his confidence. He needs to snap out of it. He will start the season at 1\. and I hope he has does have a good start to the season but if he is playing well we won't see tadesco in the side you would think, and I'm torn over that. I really want to see tadesco get a run but at the same time hope moltzen does redeem himself.

Yes voted by the players. I think the criteria for selection was something like 5 players who had played 40 or more NRL games and 1 player who had played under 40.

Probably 75 % of fans only know benji and Robbie. But there is nothing wrong with that.

Benji ?? Robbie ?? Where did we pick these guys up from ??

I hope people are patient with miller, he is talented, but i think people at this stage are over estimating his development and are expecting him to come in and control games straight away.
his decision making is still very much a work in progress, he is inclined at this stage to over play his hand from time to time and will make mistakes, i hope he puts a few kilos over the off season as well.
i think miller will be a career nrl player but think he will be inconsistent initially as he learns his trade, hopefully our fans accept that it takes time.

I'll just be happy if miller gives 100% week in week out, along with the rest of the team.

Mistakes will happen, but theres nothing worse than losing a game because the effort wasn't there!!

Ver happy to see the new coach openly backing someone like Miller as that will give him some extra confidence and authority to perform at halfback. Very smart coaching !

Or just a coach using logic

Sheens openly backed Moltzen wasn't he the next NSW halfback…...didn't work besides the last thing Miller needs is extra confidence.

No, Sheens said he should aim for it. Set the goal etc. Bit different from saying "hes the next NSW halfback".

Good luck to Miller, hope he has a break out season like DCE and Reynolds did when they started. It will make his job and transition alot easier if the whole team is going well. Forwards going forward and the backs carving it up. Then he will start to shine. If on the other hand, the opposite happens, everybody will expect him to win the game for them, pull the rabbit out of the hat. Then he may loose confidence and struggle for a while. Hopefully this will not happen.

We need great start to the season stringing a couple of wins together, and then and couple more…....some more and then a streak of 6 wins. EASY!

Bloody oath, lets start strong for once. Its great to finish strong as we have done a few times but I'd love to not sit at the halfway point counting games just to see if we can still make the finals.

This weeks rugby league week seem to think our halves for 2013 will be Benji/Sironen…
Go figure.

So does that mean Benji at half ?,i thought Potter had already ruled that out.Anyway who knows what the regular combination will be,it depends on W/L ratio and injuries.

Don't worry Demps , in the last edition for 2012 they had someone else as well playing 7 with Benji @ 6

They also had Folau playing for Parra as well
