The article's heavily censored for legal reasons, but 'High profile former QLD origin player in 2010' triggered a few alarm bells for me.

Well haven taken a quick look at the 2010 player movements there is one player who foots the bill head and shoulders above any other candidates. Probably got paid in coal trains…

I have been convinced from the day a movie star wanna be singer arrived at a certain club they have been flouting the rules, this only strengthens my belief that I was right

How do you know it is Taylor not Tuqiri?

I don't, I just don't think our club had/has the nous or connections to pull something like this off, I mean look at our roster and salary cap issues, we have not really splashed the market every off season.
And another thing Milky, I am not sure the signing in 2010 was for 2010 or for season 2011, which opens up whole new set of players.

I'm calling BS on this

All it takes to piss one person off and it all goes under

I would say clubs do what Parra did, ie get businesses to charge extras , but the only clubs doing that are the rich clubs, but it doesn't go further than that

How many clubs actually made money last year ??

I thought you were smarter than that happy - most " good " businesses aren't making any money.

I froth at the mouth thinking of all of the Donkeys' premierships being taken away. It may be as good a chance as me representing Jamaica in the 100m sprint, but damn, a man can dream.

But every man and his dog knows they've been doing it for years. It's not like the NRL could or should be shocked by this.

You have me mistaken with someone else

Let the speculation and claims of inside knowledge commence.

Lol, I will step up

Over the years a few NRL players (who I know well) have told me straight out they have received payments that they know or suspect were outside the cap. One told me on the p1ss one day that he was given a straight out cash signing bonus, that he was told not to bank!

Others have sworn blind that they have never come across it. (which could be a lie)

It definitely happens. I dont know the extent.

It happens alright, compare our roster to say Brisbane, each have the same cap to spend, admittedly Brisbane do it better than us, but not that much better to assemble that squad.

yep, I've seen many ways around it…

An ex player who's wife was working at a leagues club on 4 times the salary she wouldve gotten on the open market. [this was really early in salary cap days]

I also worked with an ex player & his good mate a property developer… Dodgy Brothers Incorporated these 2 together. [Developer Stock  ]

Another common one is players working after retirement in 'some' capacity for a club.

The NRL and there auditors are no chance… They only catch the clubs where someone has blown the whistle on someone.

Not to mention the clearly against the rules, but somehow permissible things like the Thoroughbreds.

There needs to be a new system. The salary cap is not working, they are no chance to catch them, the only way they get them is disgruntled ex employee whistleblowers.

SOmeone told me they heard Paul Kent recommend rewarding whistleblowers as the best way to catch out the cheats. I actually think that might work!
