Couldn’t agree with you more Ink…Palaszczuks high road attitude is nauseating…With her Im doing this for Qlders BS.

Everyone seems to have a chip on their shoulder these days. I pointed out the same thing some time ago about how i long for the days of us all being Aussies how it used to be, except at Origin time.
You're right about the Politicians, the worst part is people are that stupid to get caught up in it and believe it.

There's been just as much of that (if not more) going on between Victoria and NSW elected representatives for the past 18 months, to say nothing of the federal efforts to create disunity (particularly Friedenberg and Morrison about the dire situation in Victoria last year while parroting nonsense about 'gold standard NSW').

There are plenty of (presumably) NSW based folks on this forum that seem to enjoy complaining about or taking shots at Queensland's approach, too.

I don't know if that's because they're 'insecure' too? Some of them are absolutely ignorant, that's for sure.

Looking forward to you taking them to task as well.

Plenty?
Who?
Point em out bud I'll sort them out

Geo, Tigerlily, 'chicken_faced_killa', and you yourself had some snark about contact tracers 'working late'; that's just in the last 3 or 4 pages?

Dunno, just seems strange that on a football forum people would be whinging/taking pot shots at the approach that allowed the 2021 season to be completed with some sense of normality (at least in the sense of allowing spectators).

When the majority of my great forum brothers and sisters realise that the people we elect to represent us,
only use us as pawns for their own self gratification and financial gain, while we are suffering through, loss of jobs, business and family due to severe lockdowns, then the better we all will be.

Funny how they spruike the death rate of Covid ..but dont tell us the death rate of suicides from the draconian rulings they make for us...over 4000 suicide deaths since covid started...

While I understand and emphasise with you we need to stick to some facts on suicide. The figures below were taken from the Australian Suicide & self-harm monitoring website.

1979: 1,591 (10.96 per 100,000 of population 14.51M)

2019: 3,107 (12.25 per 100,000 of population 25.37M)

2020: 3,139 (12.1 per 100,000 of population)

So in actual fact the suicide rate in 2020 went down ever so slightly compared to 2019.

That's not true, and the suggestion that suicides have increased is misinformation designed to garner an emotive reaction (sadly this has been used by others in this thread, like the claims of 'Queensland residents are being locked out of their own state!')

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare record and report on this data annually; as @mike mentioned the rate of suicides annually has actually **dropped** slightly since the pandemic began.

NSW have also had mental health experts involved in their press conferences on numerous occasions throughout this lockdown. One of the best press conferences involved a discussion about the mental health of children during this time and steps parents can take and behaviours they can look out for to better deal with the mental health issues the lockdown was causing to their children.

Hopefully the 'new normal' is in full swing by next year...mercifully kids are pretty resilient; I probably feel more sympathy for the home-schooling parents.

Pretty crap time for teens/young adults (especially those without gainful employment) too.

I don't think many with a few brain cells hold politicians in high regard

My 8 year old daughter has really struggled, hasn't played with another kid in 3 months. Her only playmate has been her 42 year old dad.

Yeah my son has battled with it too. The school have been great organising Zoom catch ups with classmates but for single kids it's really been tough.

The positive that I take out of it is that I will never get to have this sort of time with her again. I got to teach her and work on some things that a lot of teachers don't teach as well as I do, we got to play and enjoy each others company in a way that I can't see us ever having again. So for all our struggles through this there have been some parts that I will cherish for a very long time. I was very lucky for her to be at an age where she still enjoys my company, even though everyday she tells me she is sick of it. Those who know me well on here know that I am a smart arse that is always taking the piss, well my 8 year old is just like me. Probably the best example of that is the fact that for 4 years she has refused to tell me that she loves me because she thinks it is funny.

The school holidays have been great for me. I've been able to get away from the computer and spend time with the boy in the yard throwing a ball or watching him learn to ride a bike.
