The USA has just sent 2 million doses of Trumps wonder drug to Brazil (the one that has already been proven to be as useful as an ash tray on a motorbike).Manila in the phillipines is just announced reducing their strict lockdown.

Our CQ situation has got unusual

The lady from the Rocky aged care centre who continued working while displaying COVID symptoms after driving to Brisbane and back has know been found to have driven to Blackwater and back .....and we have a 30 year old man who has died from COVID from Blackwater yesterday .....

Apparently the 30yr old who was reported to die from Covid19 didn't die from Covid19.

The report I read specifically said that at this stage the 30yo died ***with*** COVID not from COVID. Poor bloke had other health issues.

You have to wonder how many covid19 deaths have been recorded like this.

Yeah, whilst there are no doubt many more asymptomatic cases that have not been tested, the CDC would be working with figures very close to those below as they come from their local authorities and states. Based on that data the 17% death figure for finalised cases will undoubtedly continue to go down, but even without counting the who knows how many of those in the million plus still active cases yet to die, **the US death rate currently stands at 5.83% of all known cases.** That is more than seventy percent higher than the 3.4% figure that had many of us very concerned early in the thread.

Had no idea what your where going on about ...hadn't heard a thing until I asked the mrs

What makes this all worse is the fact his partner has been kept in isolation while grieving the loss of her partner ...not being able to talk to anyone

There is a very interesting comment in the SMH comment section about how active cases are classified between States. The writer advises NSW classifies active cases between 3 to 8 weeks, whereas Victoria has a 10 day period and sometimes a phone call asking the patient if they are okay is enough to clear them. This probably explains the community transmissions in Victoria.

**Man behind Sweden's controversial virus strategy admits mistakes
By Bloomberg**

Sweden's top epidemiologist has admitted his strategy to fight COVID-19 resulted in too many deaths, after persuading his country to avoid a strict lockdown.

"If we were to encounter the same illness with the same knowledge that we have today, I think our response would land somewhere in between what Sweden did and what the rest of the world has done," Anders Tegnell said in an interview with Swedish Radio.

Sweden's Prime Minister Stefan Lofvven says “the only way to manage this crisis is to face it as a society, with everyone taking responsibility for themselves".

Tegnell is the brains behind Sweden's controversial approach to fighting the virus, and the government of Stefan Lofven has deferred to the epidemiologist in its official response to the pandemic. Gatherings of more than 50 people continue to be banned, but throughout the crisis, Swedes have been able to visit restaurants, go shopping, attend gyms and send children under 16 to school.

The laxer approach to containing the virus has drawn both praise and indignation from across the globe. What is beyond debate, however, is the effect the strategy has had on the country's death toll.

At 43 deaths per 100,000, Sweden's death rate is among the highest globally and far exceeds that of neighbouring Denmark and Norway, which imposed much tougher lockdowns at the outset of the pandemic.

Now, Tegnell has for the first time admitted publicly that the strategy is resulting in too many deaths. "Clearly, there is potential for improvement in what we have done in Sweden," he said.

Despite criticism from abroad, Tegnell's strategy enjoyed widespread support in Sweden.

But with many other European Union countries now rolling back their lockdowns after appearing to bring COVID-19 under control, there are signs that Sweden may be left behind. That includes the freedom of movement of its citizens, as some EU countries restrict access to people coming from what are deemed high-risk COVID zones.

On Monday, Lofven promised there'd be an inquiry into the handling of the crisis before the summer.

Im deadest sick of hearing about G.Floyd and his death...understandably he is dead and really shouldn't be,but it happened in America and it is their problem to sort out..
Im not racist and I feel for the family of this man, however, this absolute garbage of BLM is only an excuse by many to openly create havoc in his name..
Why the hell would you go out and protest in Sydney or anywhere else in Australia while we are just starting to get on top of the pandemic that has killed so many and we contained it better than some..
I really don't care much about deaths in custody unless Im well informed about the facts, aparently the aboriginal guy that died had numerous mental health issues and some of them contributed to his demise, but once again I don't know the facts...but should I go out and protest amid a national health crisis "ABSOLUTELY NOT"and you know why...if this creates a second wave of the virus, many could die and my answer to that is...E.L.M.,,,,,every life matters, not just black lives....sorry but that's my opinion and Im going to stick by it...

No you miss the point completely, no one is saying that black lives are more important, no one is saying that all lives aren't important. There are genuinely people who don't think black lives are important, who think black lives don't matter. "Black lives matter" is countering that by saying yes they do. It is a simple concept and I am surprised every time that someone, like yourself, just totally misses the point.

There are not people walking around thinking that white lives don't matter, that can not be said for black lives. Black lives matter!
