Coronavirus Outbreak

Ok I will bite re Sweden, nice cherry pick of data but tell the full picture.

Lets focus on deaths Denmark, Norway & Finland with a population of 16mil had 4351 deaths all countries comparable given location etc. These 3 countries did apply restrictions against herd mentality.

Sweden with a population of 10mil had 12,700 deaths during the same time. 3 times the deaths with 40% less population.

That was in Feb and when they hit the peak then they did infact put in restrictions around operating hours of businesses, public transportation limits and list goes on which have stayed until stage 3 restrictions removal have been announced recently. They also did restrict travel to Sweden with the US being approved to travel as part of stage 3 restriction changes. The restrictions they applied did see a dip in cases until the Delta strain hit in April.

Sweden have been since the 2nd wave in April one of the most aggressive to go on the vaccine with 60% of the population having a form of the vaccine & 40% deemed fully vaccinated within 3mths. They have openly attributed the vaccine adoption by locals as the reason for things to get under control however they do still have recommended restrictions in place which the public adhere to. For a country not in fear they haven’t exactly left the doors open and being anti vax. It’s clear they a knowledge the strain the virus has hence the urgency of the vaccine rollout.

It’s not about living in fear it’s about reality is people who get covid get infected faster and the impact is worse than anything else that spreads. Sweden hospital cases and emergency cases are hardly something to also be modeled as a success either something our medical systems have zero chance of coping with thats for sure.

Seeing that I mentioned greed earlier and also long ago that my Central Coast should be fenced off (colloquially) from Sydney, I want to reiterate that it along with other areas should be protected by making Sydney itself as insular as possible.

It needs to be treated as an island in relation to this virus and early calls for blowing up bridges etcetera earlier, whilst exaggerations, they were spot on in that almost total isolation needed to be carried out back then.

impossible, chant or gladys said it, it's too hard to completely shut sydney out of everywhere else, how will food and supplies get in and out?

people are still out and about, kmart and bunnings aren't that essential
i still see tradies carpooling
there's plenty of fat to be trimmed from that list
i understand the supply chain process, i worked in part of it for too long (hated every second of it) i get petrol stations need to be open to be able to facilitate the essential workers getting to work and the same for public transport, but do mechanics need to be open? sure have emergency set up like the tradies but i still see people asking for who does green/pink/white slips etc on facebook with dozens of responses
wouldn't be too hard to put something on the back end of RMS saying any car that expired in this period gets 6 months grace
i've seen kennards hire trucks with equipment getting hauled around the roads, shouldn't be happening, traffic hasn't improved that much for so many people locked down. a normal 70 minute peak hour drive is down to 50 or so vs 35 with no traffic

With the higher number of infectious in community numbers I am starting to wonder now if people are honestly jack of the government. Are they at the point where they are refusing to take a personal economic hit because the state didn't do what was needed when it was necessary in locking down the Eastern Suburbs?

It is easy for me to comment from my position as I can work from home, have everything I need and am in an area with no recorded cases.

It would be much harder for those living week to week being told that they cannot leave for work and have to take leave, or if they are casual, stay home without pay and try to apply for government support. JobKeeper would likely still not be enough for many, while the areas that started this outbreak (who are the demographic who could handle a hard lockdown,) were flogged with a wet lettuce leaf and not locked down properly and facilitated the spread.

No doubt there is a rising level of resentment in the community and the seeding of some if it almost certainly relates to disparities, perceived or otherwise.

The assistance for many is still inadequate and being rolled out much slower than necessary for some you alluded to above to survive.

We are a wealthy country that can afford this and for mine it is imperative that we as a community that are relieved by the spending must also be the ones to repay a good portion of it as things return. We must not allow this to become a burden on our children and use the opportunity to enact structural funding change, with the next round of legislated tax cuts the first to culled as the first action.

The lockdowns can be easily solved by forcing politicians and public service involved including “medical advisors” to a job keeper for the duration of the lockdown!

as a public servant why would i go to work as an essential worker, risk getting covid, spreading it to my household including my pregnant wife if im just going to get the same pay as being on the job keeper allowance? i just wont come into work, your essential service will break down
people hate on public servant because they have a secure job but the pay is trash, they aren't the ones making a huge salary that can afford a pay hit; the higher end tax bracket are the ones who should be hit this time next year to start offsetting the huge toll job keeper is going to have on the budget for decades to come

Thanks for your comment. I referred to "medical advisors" and out of touch, unelected bureaucrats that make decisions beyond their understanding and for which they will never hold responsible! They simply have no skin in the game, and even worse, they get even more rewarded for their mistakes!
Compare this with a small business, people who put everything they own into their business. If they make a mistake, they will be directly punished. Now they are punished, for something that was not their mistake!
I am for principle "everybody counts, or nobody counts' (H Bosch). Therefore, if any politician wants to enforce lockdown, he/she/it must immediately feel the consequence, as any small business. That means, as any lockdown is enforced, their/involved bureaucracy salaries must be reduced to job keeper, with no early access to pension or other benefits.
If you vote for the lockdown, you must feel the consequences as any other person.

politicians absolutely, besides the fact they are generally scummy people
but the mum and dad public servants cracking 70k top of the range don't deserve that, especially when they are front line workers

We are not a communist state yet so they are free to protest peacefully

Free to avoid all basic health considerations during a pandemic.
(Masks, sanitising, social distancing, avoiding gatherings, groups in numbers as advised by government for the safety of ALL.)

I don't really see this as a hero act.
Probably just spread things further and made things worse which may cause further lockdowns.

Quiet silly really.

I believe in free speech and right to protest very important part of democracy

Maybe they can make a YouTube video instead of violating current orders put in place to protect the community.

I read there was over 90 fines issued and they're going to try and identify others and make further fines.

Hope they value their free speech as it comes at a cost of, $1000 infringement notice.

For the first time, I agree with you.

In my opinion the protestors were idiots, and they have probably set us back massively.

But, if you watch the video, that bloke CLEARLY didn't punch a police horse, and the journalist who selectively chose a still image that made it look otherwise should be ashamed of himself. It is a clear case of deliberate fake news, and it is no wonder that there is distrust of the media when they do this sort of thing.

Yeah, I saw the footage earlier.
So he didn't punch the horse but he did touch it which is still against the law.

Hope he gets fined for doing that as well as not following government orders.

They were breaking health orders, risking the lives of everyone in our community. So I disagree.

Correct. Funny that obeying the law makes you a communist haha, I would have thought armed insurrection by the workers is kinda illegal.

Protests need police approval. It wasn't granted. It is therefore unlawful. The end. Another example of people wasting our time because they have an "opinion".

My sense of frustration is building that we have our CHO referring to 'cultural differences' in explaining the continued visiting of family and friends in the South West and spreading of Covid. It is well beyond overdue the State Govt commence punitive action against those who clearly are breaking Health Orders. How hard is to to stay at home and communicate by telephone, skype, teams etc?

It's a cop out mate, 100% agree. I come from a big Mediterranean family. 0 contact. It is not hard and if you break the rules you need to cop it so those of us who comply can get back to life before the end of the year!

Sorry, one correction. It IS hard, but it is necessary.

Since March 2020, the World has been counting the devastating losses of lives and the horrific effects on businesses and the worlds economies, **except** for the one country, **CHINA**,
Why isn't the world talking about this? China is virtually covid-free with no more waves of infections? **WHY?**

What i've found after some researching, is this, Mr Biden and his associates keep asking the same questions,

(abc news, may26)
"Biden calls for further investigation into COVID-19 origins President Joe Biden said that he is asking the intelligence community to submit another report to him within 90 days on the origins of COVID-19"

So the sole focus of, Mr Biden is, how did this virus originate but not why China is covid-free while still being economically strong and even getting stronger, as mentioned in this following news article,
(the Diplomat)
"While much of the world scrambles to prevent new waves of coronavirus from stalling the fragile recovery from recession, China’s economy seems to be hitting its stride. In fact, economic recovery might not be a proper term to describe China’s economic boom, as in China’s case the pandemic caused something more like stagnation than a recession.
With society going back to normal, innovation and the pre-existing digitization are reinforcing economic growth in China"

So, my belief is this, stop the useless arguing about how this virus originated and argue about how and when the economies of the rest of the world are going to be covid-free which would then allow those economies to bounce back and catch-up to China.

And another thing to consider is this, are China's vaccines better? because if China is having no more infection waves after their **first and only wave**, for me is a strong indication that their vaccines are or could be better. But why?

The only other conclusion could be, Perhaps China did in fact planned and created this pandemic (plandemic) with their belief that the World would be compelled to buy their vaccines which.then would have fast tracked to make China a true Superpower meaning China would have had more than enough power to manupulate the wealth and health of the World.

This isn't really accurate. The flu mutates a lot. So each year you need an updated vaccine because it mutates all the time. Last years vaccine is useless.

The Delta variant is so similar to standard COVID that the vaccines are still highly effective. They aren't as effective but they are still highly effective.

This wouldn't happen with the flu.
