Had one about 18 months ago unfortunately did nothing so got another not long after that and it helped a charm. Shoulders no good again now but for a quick fix it was really good

I had bursitis to both shoulders and had injections. The doc had to ‘scrape’ calcination from both joints as well. That was about 10 years ago, my shoulders are crap again.

Yep I had one only recently. Make sure they pick the right spot for the injection to take full effect AND make sure you don’t do what I did and after 4-5 days of taking things easy we went out walking at Terrigal and decided to take on the Skillion Lookout Hill. Not a good idea for which I am paying now.
So if like me with pain issues all over my spine, back, hammies etc. I would think again at spending $600-700 less Medicare rebate on this.
I’m about to reach out to my GP for a “under warranty” refund.

Looks like we are into a "pissing competition" here with who's got the worst shoulder .. lol .. here's my effort .. came off my Ducati Diavel (speed disclosed for privacy reasons .. lets just say a little over the limit) from a collision with a unridden motor bike coming across the road infront of me .. never saw it coming .. 4 days in a coma .. 3 weeks in hospital 3 ops later .. shoulder fractured in a 11 pieces .. now have 34 screws, 4 plates, and 3 pieces of wire holding my shoulder together .. bicep, delts and trapezius muscle torn off the bone and then surgically put back on .. so ive had every injection there is out there in attempt to stop this pain i have non stop since the acco .. sadly none of the injections have nullified my pain .. :-(
So good luck with your injections i hope it all works out .. non stop pain sux .. !!

My wife had it done to her hip.

They can.
Cortisone injections are designed to lower the inflammatory process within a joint, which can provide relief. They're usually not 100% effective on everybody, they usually have diminished returns through further treatments and tend to work best alongside active rehabilitation process with a physio or exercise physiologist.
They're generally not a one and done type of 'cure' that people sometimes assume them to be.

Had first one Nov for bursa in AC joint..injection itself was excruriating tbh..but am back to about 98% pain free.
Key is to do the recommended exercises subsequently

It did for me.. mine just kept lingering for over 12smonths, golfing thru it obviously didn't help. Gave it 2 weeks rest after cortisone and touch wood its been good, 5years now.
Edit: add on mine was ultrasound guided

Having trouble sleeping now and I am over the panadeine forte just hitting the JD before bed
Right shoulder all the way down to the fingers the bicep is horrible as well
The bursa is 3mm thick and has a sack of fluid in there

Make sure you have a targeted injection by a specialist not a GP. I recommend the Sydney Adventist Hospital.
No charge also if referral is from a GP. Never take a referral from a Physio or you will be charged.

Yes, I had one last year with great results. In the past it was administered as a general injection to the shoulder but now they use ultrasound to inject directly into the bursa(s) with much better results.
I did my shoulder trying to pull start and old Victa ( sponsor loyalty) but after the needle threw it out and got a new mower.
I recommend you go for it .
