Could it just be one of those seasons for alot of clubs...

In Round 1 this year, the Roosters were absolutely demolished by the broncos 50-14 and everyone picked them for the spoon.

The bookies had the Panthers at 1.10c to beat the roosters in round two... And the roosters won 38-32.

The roosters lost the corresponding game to the Panthers in round 40-12...

The following round they beat the Dragons 46-18...

The raiders lost in round 3 to Manly 40-12
The storm lost to the dolphins in round 7 42-22...

I think the tigers vs storm is a game we need to put a line through as fans... The coaching staff and players will be the ones who do the work behind the scenes... There is no way their pride (based on what Ive seen this year) allows this to happen again any time soon...

This isn't a post to pin point our gaps or short comings.... Plenty were identified by the best coach and team in the NRL...

Just based on what I have seen from our players in the previous games this season, there is heart and passion... This isnt a defeat like in yesteryear where we back it up with another thumping...

Listening to the way Benji talks to his players... Knowing the way romey can reset and focus on what's to come -- I remain optimistic....

Up the tigers

I admire your optimism, but there's a big difference between losing by 20-30 points compared to nearly 70.

I'm no chicken little either, but I've seen enough footy to know that you don't play like we did on Sunday unless there are issues among the playing group.

I can't draw that conclusion because if that was the case, it would have shown in the previous two games when everything was on the line. The cracks would have appeared.

I know there were games I rocked up to as a player and there weren't any issues with the playing group, but on reflection it was something about our approach to the game.. whether it was the way we trained during the week, the over confidence, not having the attention to detail on the day.. thinking we could just rock up and play..

Then we lost games we should have won...

I could be wrong...

Maybe the sacking of bird the night before had an impact? Do we know the actual reasons as to why?

This week is a defining game for us... We don't have to win necessarily, but it needs to be bloody close.

Looking at Melbourne this year, and as one of the benchmark clubs in the NRL, check out their half time scores so far:

Rd 1 - led Parra 46-6
Rd 2 - bye
Rd 3 - led Penrith 14-19
Rd 4 - losing 14-8 to Saints
Rd 5 - Led Manly 18-10
Rd 6 - Led Warriors 36-0
Rd 7 - Led Dolphins 16-12
Rd 8 - 10 all with Douths
Rd 9 - Led Raiders 14-12
Rd 10 - Led Wests Tigers 34-0

When the Storm hit their straps, and gain momentum - there's no surprise that it converts to points, with momentum such as the rules allow.

These half time scores just show we had one of those days, and when we compare our 17 on the field with other teams, we are so poor by comparison.

Yet, after 10 rounds without a bye, having played 5 games away, we've still WON 5 games.
I'd see this as a marked improvement which can only get better as our roster improves

I think you’ll see a response this weekend. Been on the end of a few of those and when the momentum is against you and everything is clicking for them it’s just a snowball you can’t stop. Wouldn’t read too much into it.
