Council to request upgrade to Campbelltown Stadium By Scott Dougherty April 30, 2013, 3:08 p.m. A PROPOSAL to upgrade Campbelltown Sports Stadium into a venue with a larger capacity and even better facilities will be sent to the state government. See your ad here The 2012 NSW Government's Stadia Strategy proposes "further consideration of options to increase capacity in western Sydney to meet future demand".

General manager of Campbelltown Council, Paul Tosi, said the proposal would be ready in the next few weeks and would look at increased seating and upgrades. "Our stadium is outstanding as far as location with the train line and it has the parking," he said. "Hopefully when we submit this, the government will consider it. "Penrith and Parramatta have put in submissions and we are too."
Councillor Paul Lake said anything less than a proposed 30,000 capacity would be "whistling in the wind". "I spoke to Barry O'Farrell when he was in Campbelltown and asked him 'when are you requesting proposals for stadium upgrades?'," Cr Lake asked. See your ad here "He said 'we're not, people are just sending them in' and said to talk to my general manager to send one in. "The whole idea is to make it bigger to attract bigger events and more people to Campbelltown."
Cr Lake wanted to reiterate it wouldn't be "council money" going to an upgrade, it would be money the state government puts aside for a sporting facility. "If they are going to do it, we want Campbelltown to be in with a shot," Cr Lake said. "Campbelltown and Camden will have 500,000 more people here in the next 10 years or so — we need a stadium big enough for the growth."
