Cricket Season Thread

Saffers showed they have a lot more ticker than the Poms. 2/11 would have turned into a/o for under 100.

Still should be disappointed with themselves, cos they really should have gone to stumps 3 down. 2 useless shots that threw their wickets away.

De Villiers is up there with Clarke imo. Has handled the attack with ease in both tests so far.

A good match, evenly poised @ stumps.S A could of been in a stronger position except for two bad shots from the last two who got out.

A pity we didn't get to see Clarke unleash his Johnson against South Africa's de Kock. ;P

as for the actual match I'm finding it torturous at the moment. After 115 overs the South Africans are tearing along at a run rate of 2.80…
Is it just me, or has anyone else got the view that so many tests against SA and India they seem to bat forever at snails pace?

It is , but they are slowly batting us out of the Test match and obviously this works for them

South Africa have hit back hard. Lyon is out as a night watchman protecting Smith. Hopefully he can last the day. Warner has been riding his luck today.

yeh, this is pretty much what i meant with them and the indians. it seems this is always their tack.

i was thinking that they were taking far too long, but their bowlers have really put them in a good position at stumps. i watched a movie, checked it again and was actually grateful for the last few SA wickets and even the aussie ones to fall because at least it was watchable!

Nathan Lyon not walking after an edge. He must be a cheat like Broad.

Poor form. It is cheating.

True, but somehow i don't think people will take much notice. Its okay to cheat when we do it.

Its not cheating at all. Its the cricketers role to hit the ball and the umpires role to decide if they are out. This all started because of the sanctimonious and arrogant Gilchrist's campaign of walking. Before that cricket worked fine for 100+ years with no walking.

Not game to do a scorecheck ,flipped over twice and Warner got out 2 balls after flicked over and then Haddin got out the next time I flipped the channel the 2nd time

Seems like I'm a hex

I think Johnson is being found out to be a one trick pony here. Before you shoot me down hear me out.

With the exception of 2 balls he's been largely ineffective. Now you might say ''well its not his pitch, there's no pace'', well its not his pitch anymore than it is the SA quicks pitch and they bowled the Aussies out in less than 3 sessions. Johnson is all about intimidation, and once that doesn't work, he has nothing to fall back on. You could say that the Aussie attack in general have been exposed in this game, the same attack that proclaimed themselves as the best in the world before the series began. They've been out bowled in this test and haven't adjusted at all. Now you can say, ''the pitch has been doctored'', well maybe it has, but every nation does it, even Australia, like all those times late in Warnes career there'd be talk of playing 2 spinners in Perth of all places.

Imo where Johnson fails in comparison to the SA quicks, he's all braun, if he can't intimidate he's stifled. SA show they can adapt to any conditions.

possibly true gnr, but i think it is just a little early to say so. hes only bowled in one innings after 12 wickets in the first test…

It's been refreshing to see Amla bounce back. I quite enjoy watching him when he is batting well.
